If you're thinking that headbands have gone the way of the dinosaur, think again. A Japanese company called Thanko has just announced the VONIA sports headband, which actually acts as a set of headphones without requiring you to shove anything in or on you ears. How? Bone conduction. The VONIA headband uses it to send sound directly to your brain by stimulating your eardrums, leaving you free to hear any ambient sound that could alert you to, say, an oncoming truck that would have turned you into a bloody mess. Perfect for people who love listening to music while running or biking. The VONIA headband has a front pocket designed to hold an iPod shuffle or any other small mp3 player. The player connects to wiring hidden inside the headband itself. The speaker units are also waterproof, so if you have a waterproof player you can still use it while you're doing a few laps in the pool. There's no word yet on if the VONIA headband will be coming to the U.S., but if you have a friend in Japan, you can get them to buy one for US$ 85 when it goes on sale later this month. |

Adding to the list of "waterproof" electronic gadgetries is Aquapac's 100% Waterproof Headphones. The company is known for making waterproof cases for iPods and now, they plan on bringing the same waterproof know-how for their earphones. The 100% Waterproof Headphones can withstand 10m/33 feet of pressure, so if you plan on listening to some tracks while deep sea fishing, then you'd have no problems with this one. The headphones will work on your iPod, VHF radio, TV among many other things. The wires are said to be 100% PVC free and Aquapac claims that they are made to be environmentally friendly. Also, its earbuds are made from silicone rubber, which does not support bacterial or fungal growth. These can be detached and washed separately if needed. For more info about this thingamajig, check out the link below which will take you to Aquapac's official website. |

Why anyone would want to bring his or her precious iPod underwater? But we don't understand why some people buy Ashlee Simpson's records, either. If you simply cannot survive without your iPod, even when you're under water, this post is dedicated to you. H20 Audio now offers waterproof and water resistant (up to 10 feet) iPod cases for the 80GB video iPod and the iPod Nano. The submarine casing for the iPod Nano also comes with a belt clip, an arm band and an optional attachment for a bicycle in case you want to go jogging or biking underwater. The H20 Audio iPod case for the 80GB video iPod retails for US $89, while the iPod Nano case and accessories costs US $39. If you want to bring your iPods down under AND listen to it, you will need the Waterproof H20 Audio Headsets - sold separately for $39. |

Water and MP3 players? Doesn't make sense. Before, listening to your MP3 player near a body of water, say in the pool for example, is a big no-no. You just can't afford to have your player and the speaker get wet or else...But now you can, with iFloat.iFloat is a waterproof case and speaker designed for MP3 players. Now you can enjoy music under any weather condition. You can even take your player with you as you lounge in the pool during hot summer days for iFloat can literally float! It has a reliable hard-shell case with secure, rubber gasket seal that is completely waterproof. See the case in action by plugging it in your MP3 player of choice, as long as the player's compatible with a 3.5mm headphone jack. All it needs is a 9-volt battery and it's ready to serve your listening pleasure. If you have $35 to spare, you might want to check out this Brookstone product. We must mention though, that there's a note in the product that says it's "not intended for prolonged swimming or underwater use." So just how long can iFloat really be "waterproof", we don't know. |

Segatoys have released the second in their iPod friendly pets. The iFish works in the same principle as the original iDog. You can plug your iPod or other MP3 device to it and it will act as a speaker which also moves and lights up in beat to the music. The iFish isn't waterproof, so I dont suggest you put it into your bath, but it does seem like a bit of a novelty feature. There is a video of the review which you can view in high definition below. Personally I preffer the iDog, its smaller and does seem a bit more user friendly, by watching the video you can probably see that the iFish seems a bit lethal as it swings about.Download: [iFish Review Video] |
