Leipzig's over and the Tokyo Game Show won't be till October. But that doesn't mean there won't be any other conferences around to satisfy ever-curious gamers' appetites. And this time, we won't even have to fly overseas. The Austin Game Developers Conferences is coming up next, and they've added in a nice touch to this year's event. |

Now we're pretty skeptical about the claim, but it appears that a video brewing with "Mr. Notecards" and the almost intelligible mention of "iPhone" and "first" in the same sentence has appeared, so we decided to give it a chance.
Now you may not all remember the notecard shuffler, Stan Stigman, back when Steve Jobs first revealed the Apple iPhone, but he was apparently a 1970 West Texas A&M University graduate and handed over an iPhone to the current WTAMU president, Dr. J. Patrick O'Brien. What was AT&T's Wireless' CEO doing in WTAMU, you ask? Well, he was marketing "the new Cingular" company, AT&T Wireless, over a commencement exercise for WTAMU's graduates for this year. In conclusion to his speech (which you can't hear very much of in 42 seconds of audio distortion), he gave Dr. O'Brien what appeared to be a phone, mentioning it was the "first ... iPhone in the state of Texas." |

It's back to the courts for Apple's crack lawyer team again. InfoWorld reports that the Cupertino-based company is among those being sued by a little-known Texas firm for infringing on an mp3-related patent. The suit by Texas MP3 Technologies, filed February 16 in Marshall, Texas, alleges that Apple, Samsung, and Sandisk are infringing on U.S. patent 7,065,417. The patent was awarded in June 2006 to former iPod chip maker SigmaTel, and covers "an MPEG portable sound reproducing system and a method for reproducing sound data compressed using the MPEG method." According to InfoWorld, SigmaTel sold the patent to a Dallas-based patent licensing agency shortly after receiving rights because it felt the agency was better equipped to take advantage of its potential value. SigmaTel said it had retained international rights to the patent and has insulated its customers from any legal action associated with the patent. InfoWorld said that it is still unclear whether Texas MP3 Technologies is the Dallas-based company that bought the patents from SigmaTel or whether it acquired them from somewhere else. In the lawsuit, Texas MP3 Technologies said that it is the "assignee of all rights" of the patent and holds "all rights of recovery." |

![]() Disney, it seems, is liking this new Apple venture: distributing television programs on a Video iPod. So far, the move has attracted thousands of customers to the unique format, with over 3 million video downloads to date. Seizing on the opportunity, Disney has announced it will release additional content available for download through iTunes. You sports fans out there will be happy to know that you will be able to download sporting programs, including content from its ESPN and ABC Sports outlets. "Kicking off the latest effort are condensed versions of this year's four college BCS bowl football games from ABC Sports. Later this month, ESPN will provide content from its X Games coverage, 'SportsCentury' interviews from ESPN Classic, and the amusing 'This Is SportsCenter' show. Also in the works are ESPN Original Entertainment programs including 'Knight School,' the forthcoming reality program featuring Texas Tech basketball coach Bobby Knight, which will premiere on iTunes." Are you ready for some Monday Night Football?[Via, Sci-Tech Today] |
