Since we covered a Quake port for the Nintendo DS earlier, it's only fair that the iPhone gets one as well, right? Developer ZodTTD recently released a new homebrew port of id Software's popular shooter for the iPhone and iPod touch. Find out how the game plays and looks like on your favorite Apple gadget by reading our full article after the jump. |

If you're in the mood to streamline your work process, then here's something that could probably help: Peter Maurer's Witch 2.0, a handy application for your Apple workhorse that lets you bind application-switching actions to specific keystrokes. Already at version 2.0, it has quite the update - more specifically, how it's made the jump from donationware to shareware. Check out all the details in the full article. |

Been having speed issues with Safari, eh? Yep, we know how annoying it is when you wait forever for the pages to load. So to help you out in that department, we're gonna tell you guys about the wonder that is Safari Speed 2.1.Now a lot of you are probably using Safari Speed 2 already so we probably don't have to delve into that whole thing. But suffice to say, a lot of users have been complaining about some of that OS's features that slow down your computer's speed. To fix that, here's v2.1 which will help you load pages faster and customize your interface easier (to mention a few). Here are some more of the things you can expect in Safari Speed 2.1:

Before your brains go into overdrive, Coversutra is a shareware application that deals with album artwork. This means you don't have to tire your eye out reading through gazillions of files. Instead, you'd have the ease of browsing through colorful and artistic album covers. However, even if this application has been conceptualized long before the iTunes 7.01 with pretty much the same function came out, the Coversutra must incorporate something in its design and build that will make users take a second look. The application isn't released yet, however, private beta testing is now on its way and hopefully we'll be able to check out this application soon. |

Feel like pimping your Mac? We don't mean just customizing your desktop or adding plug-ins and extensions for your Safari. It's tweaking almost every tiny function of your Apple computer so you get the best out of it! Thanks to Michael of My Tech Lists, we got a whole bunch of apps and downloads here (some are free, some are not) that you can use. Check them out: Pixel Press Icons dishes out 120 of the most beautiful icons on ANY OS that you can download and use for any of your programs. You can download hundreds of Mac Desktop Images with MacDesktops. Now if you want to customize your toolbar in 80 different ways where you can include DiggUpdates and Del.icio.us bookmarks (to name just a few), get Super OS X Menubar Items. To get things done the quickest way, you can use OS X Keyboard Shortcuts -- a site that gives a complete list of the keyboard shortcuts available in OS X. To make browsing with Safari a breeze, you can try looking at Pimp My Safari where more than 60 plugins and extensions for the default OS X browser are available. Other sites can help you with advanced programs that needed to integrated well with your Mac. Some of them are NeoOffice, Automator World, and CenterStage. NeoOffice encompasses almost all office applications for the Mac OS X. Based on the OpenOffice.org office suite, it allows you to import, edit, and exchange files with other popular office programs such as Microsoft Office. Automator World, on the other hand, is a great resource for Automator Users. CenterStage allows you to let your digital media content connect seamlessly with your TV. Some apps come with the features already bundled, while others are self-contained. Undercover allows you to see who's using your Mac with its advanced recovery software from Orbicule. Unsanity Apps is a collection of lots of really useful apps such as Application Enhancer Version 2.0.1, ClearDock Version 1.4.1, Dock Detox Version 1.2, Menu Extra Enabler Version 1.0.3, Paranoid Android Version 1.3, ShadowKiller Version 1.3, Smart Crash Reports Version 1.2, and the Cee Pee You Version 1.1.3 . Apple Company is making things a bit easier for users of video iPod, MAC and PlayStation Portable (PSP) who want to amp their playlists. It does so by acknowledging a new shareware application from Stinkbot.com.Internet utility TubeSock grabs online YouTube Videos and damps them into your system. The software is no-hassle as it converts the videos on its own, choosing the best codecs and bitrates for each device. Those who don't have video iPod can also use TubeSock as it allows grab audio only option as well. And since it already uses MP3 format, loss in audio fidelity should not be a problem. Other features include Preview Playback, Safari and Firefox integration, and Front Row compatible. Below, a trial version is available for download that converts the first 30 seconds only. Registration and payment for the product is $15. Download: [TubeSock] |

After legal run-ins with the Tetris Company on a supposed infringement of the Tetris trademark, Quinn - an implementation of a popular falling-blocks game that shall not be named, unless we want to get sued - lives to tell the tale. The popular shareware that held a spot in Phil Ryu's "The Ten Most Beautiful OS 10 Applications," is back and better than ever. It's still the same Quinn we've known but now has a new online server list, includes a standalone server, shows the number of players on a server in the dock icon and it supports multiple moderators in a server. Changelog:
Download: [Quinn 1.3.1 for Mac OS X 10.1] Download: [Quinn 2.3.3 for Mac OS X 10.2 or later] Download: [Quinn 3.3.4 for Mac OS X 10.4.2 or later] |

Seems like Apple just lends itself to these "Top Ten"
lists. Today's is called "The Ten Most Beautiful OS 10 Applications,"
courtesy of Phil Ryu. Although whether this is "beautiful" in the
aesthetic sense or just "beautiful" in their ease of use and overall
utility, we're not sure. It's all in the eye of the beholder.
Decide for yourself... here, then, without further ado, are today's "Top Ten." #10: TRANSMISSION A P2P application, the recommended BitTorrent client. An "exercise in simplicity," according to Phil.
That's just the tip of the iceberg!! Read the Full Article for nine more beautiful apps! |

Wcars05 from iPod linux have ported iD?s classic Doom to the iPod. Currently this is playable on the iPod Photo and will ?work? on the 1?4G?s and the Mini 1G/2G. You must also have the shareware Doom I or Doom II .wad files in the folder with Doom. (only one .wad at a time because there is currently no selector.) To play, mount your iPod and make a folder like ?doom.? Copy over the doom bin file and the .wad file to the same folder. Unmount the iPod from your computer, start up iPodLinux and open the ?File Browser,? then the ?hp? folder and lastly the ?doom? folder (or whatever you named it.) Finally open Doom and shoot away =) Keys: -Rewind : Left -Fastforward : Right -Menu : Up -Play/Pause : Fire -Hold : Exit -Action : Use -Right on the wheel: Y -Left on the wheel : Enter Things to fix/add: -Overhead map -Weapon switching. -Launcher. -Better inputs. -Scaled video -Wad selector? You can get it in our iPod Download section with source. |
