iPod docks typically come in small sizes. Of course, there's always the exception - like the Tune-In Bed. Today we came across another one thanks to Uber-Review: the Geneva Sound System XL. Check it out on the right.Looks custom made for an iPod, right? Actually, aside from working as an iPod dock, the Geneva Sound System XL can also act as a huge speaker for other mp3 players. You can also connect it to vinyl, TV or any audio using the bundled audio and line-in (RCA) cables. It also has a built-in FM radio receiver and a slot-loading CD that can read both audio CDs and mp3s. Yeah, it's big - it weighs 38kg and is 61cm high - but that's because it has a 600-watt high fidelity digital amplifier. This behemoth is available in three colors: white, red, and black. The price? US$ 1,075 without the optional aluminum floor stand, US$ 1,194 with it. Oh, and it also comes with a remote control. |

Apple recently filed a patent on what could be some kind of total home entertainment system that will read music and video from just about every medium from iPods, computers or stand-alone DVD players. The device may be an enhancement to the already-released Apple TV or may also be an entirely different device in itself. It was also speculated that the device may record media or stream data similar to a Slingbox. The patent says that this Apple concept is segmented - divided into different modules - and has a central hub coordinating the exchanges. Of course, the user will be able to call the shots in a multitude of ways. Theories that a mouse and keyboard, a remote control or the iPhone can be used to direct everything have surfaced, although no confirmations have been made. If Apple follows its innovative tradition of allowing third parties to create products that will enhance the system, firms will be likely to get in a rush to capitalize on this market opportunity. Still, everything's still just a patent at this point and a lot of modifications may still be made. We'll keep you posted for new developments. If you want to read more about this new Apple brainchild, follow the read URL. |

Reports of Sling Media working on making their Slingbox placeshifting device compatible with Apple's new Apple TV have been confirmed according to The Unofficial Apple Weblog. The confirmation was reportedly made by Dave Zatz, an employee at Sling Media. For those who have yet to encounter it, the Slingbox is a TV streaming device that lets users stream and view video from their AV sources (DVD player, TiVo, etc.) remotely on their Internet-capable PCs. It also has an IR blaster that lets users control their AV source as if they were in their living rooms and using a standard remote control. The report from The Unofficial Apple Weblog says that the Slingbox Pro will apparently connect to the Apple TV via the component outputs. It will give users access not only to their videos but also to their entire iTunes library. Users can also reduce bandwidth by choosing audio only mode on the SlingPlayer software. |

Apple and Nike are at it again, and this time they're planning to release a series of follow-ups to the successful Nike + iPod Sport Kit.
According to iLounge, Nike plans to release a series of at least two
and perhaps three hybrid watch and wireless remote control accessories
for Nike + iPod Sport Kit-equipped iPod nanos. The first one up is Flight+ (US$ 129), a wireless iPod remote control housed within a fully-working wristwatch body. iLounge reveals that "Flight+Â?s music controls, such as volume and track adjustment, are built into a rocking bezel around its central Electroluminescent (EL) backlit watch screen." Flight+ will be available in two colors and will feature the typical watch functions such as time, date, and alarms as well as the ability to trigger the Nike + iPod Sport KitÂ?s voice feedback feature. The Flight + is planned for a May 1 release this year. Check out more watches after the jump! |

Uh-oh. It looks like those metal-scavenging Jawas have finally gotten their grubby paws on R2D2 and have turned him into... well, an iPod dock. As spotted at the CES 2007 floor, this little droid won't exactly pilot your X-Wing for you anymore, but it CAN play your tunes and project your movies. At the Nikko Home Electronics corner, the R2-D2 DVD Projector was spotted being sold for more than US$ 2,000. You can pop in your favorite DVD movie in the slot and project the show onto your wall. If you're tired of that, R2D2 can also play your CDs or hook up to your iPod.This guy's true purpose is to play DVDs though, and can display an image on the wall at up to 80 inches wide, or he can tilt up so he can project onto the ceiling, just so you can lie back while you watch the latest season of "House MD". As for the remote, the remote control slides out of a replica of the Millennium Falcon. Besides controlling the projector though, this remote can also move R2D2 himself, making him go forward, reverse, right, left, and do pivot turns as he makes his signature bleeps and boops (I have to admit, that is so darned cute...). Now if only he came with his mini-zapper and his rocket boosters, it would be perfect. |

Nope, that's not an '80s boombox accessory for your iPod (although such a thing would be way cool). That thing to the right of this block of text, the one that looks like a cassette deck, is the HouseParty 24/7, Gear4's new speaker system for apple's iPod. Now, we've covered a lot of iPod speaker systems here on QJ since we first started, and we guess you guys have seen quite a lot of these newfangled iPod accessories yourselves. So maybe you're asking yourself, "What's so special about this thing, then?" Well, for one, it's a 2.1 stereo speaker system featuring two two-inch six-watt magnetic shielded speakers and an ActiveBass 2.1T twelve-watt sub-woofer. This thing'll keep you and your neighbors up til the morning. So, okay, maybe now you're saying, "So? A lot of speaker systems have more output than that." Yeah, but although those speakers may be able to keep you up longer than the HouseParty 24/7 can, can they wake you up after you collapse from exhaustion? Yes folks, the HouseParty 24/7 has a built-in alarm clock. Set your alarm and when it kicks in, the HouseParty 24/7 bursts into radio life. Yep, it's also got AM/FM radio with 5 preset stations and a snooze mode between 5 and 20 minutes. Aside from the alarm clock and the radio, the speakers also come with a three-stage dimmer LCD screen and a 16-function remote control allowing direct access to your iPod's menus. Getting interested? Luckily, the HouseParty 24/7 is available now. It's available in sexy black or cool white and will set you back £99.99 (around $190 US). |

Remember the Vacuum Cleaner Robot? Well, here's another possible Robot ancestor. Miuro, the music innovation based on utility robot technology. So what does this music on "rollers" do? You basically attach your 3rd Gen iPod on it's head (just like a brain) and have it blast sonic waves (music, for the meantime) from its rolling arms. You control the robot by remote control. It also receives signals from the PC to play iTunes and other programs (safe programs, yes). As you can see above, it comes in 4 different colors. Additional accessories will include a camera and sensor so it can map your house and remember all your rooms. The Creator, Shinichi Hara, designed it so that it would look gentle and become part of everyday life. He's hoping that 10,000 Miuros will be rolling inside houses by the first year. They remind me of those enemy fighters in Star Wars to tell you frankly. Will this change the way we listen to our music? Instead of carrying the iPod, it will plod on right behind you when you least expect it. Then it will blast you with sonic vibrations. But that's just us thinking. Maybe the UBOT and Miuro can be molded into one. Imagine, it's going to make music and vacuum your floor! Multitasking robot. But putting too much power in one thing can be dangerous. It's now available online. |

"Stop playing on the computer and come down for dinner! NOW!" It's a frequent line screamed by a mother to her child every time a household war is waged. Mom wants to have attention, child wants World of Warcraft. Mom says "Stop it!", child screams "ORLY?". It's true that MMORPGs are addicting and it's been the cause of a lot of domestic squabbles. Mothers of WoW-playing kids will be happy with the parental controls that the upcoming Mac OS X Leopard has to offer. Apple has revealed that parents can specify time restrictions when their kids can play games like WoW. This feature also has a remote control setup, which means parents can set the restrictions from anywhere. Of course, while moms would sleep better at night knowing that their children finished their homework, the kids got it bad like whoa. "W0rk, w0rk, w0rk! Mom is teh win!!!11" |

There's already a glut of accessories for Apple's iPod floating around in the sea of consumer consciousness out there, so what's the big deal about another new speaker system? Well, nothing much. It's just that this particular one has got to be one of the more weird-named iPod accessories ever. The i-Steroid is a new range of iPod speaker systems from Sonic Gear. The iPod-like wooden enclosure houses a unique 2.1 speaker system with a Vacuum Valve Amplifier. And just so there are no doubts that it's using old-school valve amplification, Sonic Gear designed the enclosure so you can actually see the vacuum valve. These babies come bundled with Sonic Gear's U100 iPod universal dock colored to match the main unit and a matching infra-red remote control. Right now, Sonic Gear has three models out: The i-Steroid 1, the i-Steroid 1FM, and the i-Steroid 2. The only difference between the i-Steroid 1 and i-Steroid 2 is that the latter packs a bit more punch than the former. The i-Steroid 1 has an output of 28 watts while the i-Steroid 2 has an output of 50 watts. The i-Steroid 1FM, on the other hand, has a built-in FM reception circuit with a precision dial channel scanner. It has the same output as the i-Steroid 1. All three models are available in black or white. |

Just when you thought that the letter "i" can't be attached to anything else anymore, here comes yet another item that has been more than happy to jump in on the concept of the Age of the iPod. Pottery Barn has recently started selling a line of furniture known as the "iChair" - and as promised, they do more than provide a comfortable cushion for your behind. The iChair comes with a pocket that you can place your precious iPod into, and then hook it up to the sound system that has been assembled into the chair itself. The semi-wrap-around headrest actually comes with a pair of high-quality speakers that are positioned on either side of your head, and a set of subwoofers right below your gluteus maximus makes for a VERY comfortable sound trip. A wood frame with a weighted base will keep you from tipping over to the side, and the cushions themselves are finished in faux suede for the luxurious feel. Other features include a standard audio jack that makes it easy to connect to any game system or MP3 player, and a control panel at your right hand so that you can easily control the volume. The iChair currently comes in Charcoal and Light Blue, and retails for $399. Now, if they just remembered to add a drink cooler, a remote control pocket and a massager somewhere in there, they may soon be running La-Z-Boy out of business. |
