Memorex has revealed a new portable video player for fifth-generation iPods. Called the iFlip (not to be confused with the iPod case of the same name), the video player features an 8.4-inch LCD display, integrated speakers, a tilting iPod dock, and a lithium-ion battery. Users can watch their videos on the iFlip's built-in display or just use its speakers for music-only playback. Hmmm. If you close the iFlip, it looks kinda like an old external modem. Hah. The iFlip (not to be confused with the computer table of the same name) has a native resolution of 480 x 234. Battery life clocks in at up to five hours of power. The unit also has S-video out, line out, and dual headphone jacks. While the iFlip (y'know what, i really wanna say "not to be confused with the portable video player of the same name" - couldn't their R&D/marketing guys have come up with a more unique name?) has its own on-screen menu system (for brightness, contrast, etc.), Memorex said that the user will still navigate music and video via the iPod. If this thing came with a remote, then I'd buy one in no time. This baby will launch in mid-September, carrying a price tag of $200. The iFlip will be available in black or white, with an iFlip carrying case sold separately. |

If the Memorex's iMove is a boombox designed for your iPod.Much like in the Hi-Fi, just slide your iPod into the dock and let her rip. It supports iPod Video (5th generation with click wheel), iPod Photo/U2 (with click wheel), iPod/U2 (4th generation with click wheel), iPod Nano and iPod Mini. It also functions as an AM/FM radio with station presets. So not only does it play your favorite tunes it also helps you find new ones. The 15.7" x 6.0" x 7.9" boombox, comes with a user manual & warranty card, universal iPod adapters, AC adapter and wireless remote control. Although, I personally feel that it defeats the whole purpose of the iPod being a compact device, iMove breathed new life to the 80s boombox retro design by streamlining the product, thus, eliminating corners making it easier to put on your shoulders like in the old days. iMove is for the mobile audiophile (who doesn't mind the extra weight), who would want to share to their music in a different way. Loud and clear that is.

Have you been looking at the available ranges of iPod wraps and thinking "I'd like one, but the right design for me really just isn't out there yet"? If you have, then it looks like Memorex might have just the product for you. assuming that you already have an inkjet printer, that is.Memorex have recently released a range of printable iPod wraps in packs of 10 for the iPod shuffle, the iPod Nano, the iPod Video, the iPod Mini, and the 4th generation iPod too. You can print any design you like onto these self-adhesive wraps made of scratch and scuff-resistant photo-quality paper, and Memorex promise that they're easily removable after you get bored and print yourself a new one. Each pack of 10 wraps includes Memorex's exPressit Label Design Studio software (for Windows PCs only, unfortunately), which helps you work to the appropriate template shapes and includes over 1,500 backgrounds, images, and clip art for those who are short of inspiration or source material of their own. |
