We are pretty sure that PlayStation 3 owners are quite jealous of the Connect360 application that allows Xbox 360 owners to stream their Mac media into their console. Well, we are happy to inform you that you need not to feel like that anymore as Nullriver Software has heard your requests and has answered your prayers. Know more about this program after the jump! We all knew that Apple is planning to release iLife before October but what we didn't expect is for it to be officially unveiled this early. In fact, the Cupertino-based company came up with a press release the other day, officially announcing the new build for suite of digital lifestyle applications to the world.
"Apple has taken iLife '08 to a new level that is years ahead of anything available for the PC. We think iLife '08 gives Mac users even more reasons to love their Macs, and PC users even more reasons to switch," commented Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The following are the general changes applied to the program:

Apple's iTunes eventually made its way to Windows, thanks in part to the iPod's success. Now, with Apple throwing its full support behind the Apple TV, could another component of iLife eventually appear on Windows? Apple Matters' Chris Howard explores the possibility of a Windows version of iPhoto. According to Howard, it's all about "the Apple experience and Apple having control." Howard also parallels the iTunes move to the possible iPhoto move. He states it like this: iTunes for Windows gave users a taste of the apple and created a more seamless integration with the iPodÂ?whether perceived or real. Plus then Apple also had control over the feature set. Howard also notes (in the comments section) that one of the reasons why users are sometimes reluctant to switch to a whole new platform is the subsequent porting of their old data to the new platform. "How many Windows users worry about switching to Mac because theyÂ?ve got thousands of photos in Picasa or Adobe Album etc and they donÂ?t know what to do with them on a Mac?" Howard ask. "iPhoto on Windows makes more sense the more I think about it." What about you guys? Let us know what you think by leaving a comment below. |

FrontRow is a Mac app that acts as a front-end for Quicktime, iTunes, and iPhoto libraries. It also allows Mac users to browse media on their computers using the Apple Remote. Despite being over a year old, FrontRow still doesn't have an option to play internet radio. If this issue has been bugging you for quite some time now, then don't worry, because EntertainMac has a nifty little solution for it. Here's how: First, you have to look for an internet radio station that you want to listen to. Just navigate through iTunes (which has a pretty extensive list even though FrontRow doesn't recognize them) or find any M3U stations that spark your interest. Next, you have to add them to the Library. You can do this by simply dragging the radio stations to your iTunes library. By doing this, iTunes will save the M3U files locally as an iTunes track. Finally, it's time to organize. EntertainMac cautions that finding these stations in FrontRow "can be difficult, especially with larger libraries." To make things easier, create a Smart Play list based on "Kind" and set it to look for "MPEG audio stream." This will find all of your Internet radio stations. All you have to do now in FrontRow is to pull up the correct play list and you're good to go. |

We're sure you guys have experienced this: Ever tried guiding a not-so-computer-literate relative through an image upload session? More specifically, ever tried guiding them through the rather long and fiddly process of uploading iPhoto files to Gmail? Juan I. Leon had the same problem, and after thinking it over, decided to come up with this simple little solution called Photo2Gmail. For those asking what exactly it does, it's a plugin for your iPhoto that simplifies the otherwise complicated process of re-sizing and uploading images to Gmail. From what we can see, it also comes with a pre-size function to allow for faster image uploads - very convenient for multiple files. Be warned, though - Juan says the software's still in its early stages, so expect it to have a couple of bugs. All in all we like the idea, and we're hoping Juan comes up with an update for this plugin soon. |

Trying to look for a cost-effective way of getting the most out of your
Mac's OS X? Josh Pigford over at theappleblog brought together a list
of his favorite top ten Mac apps, and we were thinking you'd want to
hear about them too. Here they are:
ChronoSync Made by Econ Technologies, this app is a handy backup/disk syncing tool that's sure to come in handy in case anything goes wrong with your unit. Think superduper with more features. Price: US$ 30. Connoisseur Little App Factory's app is a cooking recipe database that not only displays recipes fullscreen, but also dictates them like your favorite cooking cooking shows. Also check out the recipe community for more recipes to your taste. Price: US$ 20. Democracy For the vidcast viewers, this handy little app allows you to pile up your vidcasts into one manageable load, in a way working as an RSS feed reader. And the best part about this app and its growing directory is that it's a freebie. DeskShade For guys who like keeping their desktop spotless, MacRabbit's app is just the program to pick up, as it instantly hides all your messy desktop icons with one click of a hotkey, and also includes other handy features for your use. Price: US$ 12.95. GarageSale This app's for the Mac user tired of using eBay's uber-slow listing submission form. It's a full-featured client application for the eBay auction system, and should help not only speed up your auction posting, but also allows for a higher degree of customizability with its healthy assortment of templates and its compatibility with iPhoto. Price: US$ 29.99. The rest of the apps after this jump! |

A lot of great things has been said about Mac products: they're innovative, great, and all that. But a great product is useless if the user doesn't live up to his end of the bargain (such as not installing a decent anti-virus or cluttering your RAM with useless apps). Anyhow, we're deviating from the topic here, someone over at MadMac did a little investigative report on the top 10 Mac memory hoggers. Here are the apps that made that list:

When Leopard hits Macs the world over, iPhoto won't be the only application getting some help courtesy of Google. It seems Apple's Safari web browser will be accessing Google's info on potentially dangerous sites to beef up its protection against malicious web sites.Of course, that's not the only new thing that Safari has going for itself. Features like Web Clip, which lets users create dashboard widgets from a site, and Web Inspector, which allows users to browse the DOM hierarchy from a pop-up window while highlighting the items selected on the page, will also be included. Apple has also taken a page from the CSS book of tricks. Adding a new feature from the next version of CSS, Safari 3.0 will allow the user to resize the text area on a form. Another feature that's been added to the next version of Safari is the ability to drag and drop a tab around in the browser window. That may not seem like that big of a deal but this is a feature that Safari has lacked for quite some time now. The next version of Safari will also take this whole thing to another level by allowing you to consolidate all open windows into one and placing them each in their own tab, drag-and-drop tabs between windows, and allowing you to reorder the tabs in each window. All that and loads more. It seems Apple is really making a great deal of effort into making the Mac's browser of choice into a stronger application than it is now, and we're in no way complaining. |

Mac users would be delighted to know that Google has just updated their services to accomodate Mac users out there, and all this after hiring a Mac Engineering team. In fact there is even a customized version of the Google website that caters to Mac-lovers (check out the footer in the screenie we got). The Mac-fied Google site for Mac users now sports several downloadable features which we think are pretty cool. One of these is the Google Notifier which provides easier access to your mail which is also customizable according to user's preferences. The Google Notifier also provides a Google Calendar that lets one keep track of important dates. Another downloadable item is the Picasa Web Albums. This handy application lets you upload your photos in several ways which includes directly using iPhoto, or using a drag-and-drop system from a standalone application. To be able to enjoy this feature, just sign up for a Picasa Web Albums account. Other downloadable software tailor-made for Mac users are Google Toolbar, Google Earth, Google SketchUp and Google Widgets. |

Steve Jobs really did a great job hyping up the Apple phone so much so that rumors just seem to keep on weaving itself as to what the phone would exactly be like. From AllGadgets.org, the grapevine just got juicier as fans of Apple have allegedly found references to the GPS data in Apple's iPhoto software. This, in case you're not aware, is said to be used with the iPhone. Says the overzealous Nancy Drews, the code of the software references GoogleMaps, while also hinting at the idea that the iPhoto will also be able to allow photos to be tagged with location data. And of course, as it is practically unimaginable now to have a mobile phone without an installed camera in it, you can expect no less from this secret Apple phone. Imagine it with a GPS, and able to sync data taken across iTunes and iPhoto whenever you dock it. Imagine that the GPS device can also be a means for tracking the unit down if it gets lost or stolen. Imagine, cause it just might turn out to be how you pictured it. But again, these are all just rumors. So until we hear some more concrete information from Apple itself (which we doubt to be any time soon), let's just keep imagining. It'll all come together in good time. |
