This jailbreak, much like the 1.1.2 jailbreak, is an upgrade to already jailbroken iPhones, so you'll need 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbreak on your iPhone before you can proceed. If you do happen to have one, then follow us to the full article as we discuss the jailbreaking process in detail. |

If you've been waiting for a free iPhone software unlock program that will allow you to use any SIM with your unit, then AnySIM 1.1 might be what you're looking for. It's intended for "virgin" Apple iPhones.Just so we're all on the same page here, a virgin iPhone is one that has not been modded or hacked before. This is a new unit which is working under normal conditions. The iPhone Dev Team has tested AnySIM with 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 and it works on both. However, if you try to unlock q.0.2 then try to update to 1.1.1, your phone will end up being re-locked, amounting to nothing in the end. If your Apple iPhone isn't virginal, there's no need to go out and buy a new one. The iPhone Dev Team is currently working on an app that will "revirginize" your Apple iPhone so you can use AnySIM on it. |

Steve Jobs has recently stated that Apple will be cracking down on unlocked iPhones. Apparently, the method they have chosen to do so is through firmware updates they plan on releasing for iPhones. The group of hackers (iPhone Dev Team) who developed the unlocker have responded to this statement through a representative saying that they will be releasing a tool that will restore the unit's nck counter, seczones, and even restore the phone to factory settings. In the meantime, they told the rest of the community that they shouldn't upgrade their firmware when the update comes out. Instead they ask unlocked iPhone owners to patiently wait for the next version of the crack to avoid breaking their mobiles. In the same statement, they also spoke about how Apple is allegedly misinforming their customers: Apple now announces that the next firmware update, expected later this week, will possibly break the handset of all of us free users in the World. It speaks of "damage" done to the firmware and "unauthorized access" to our own property, The removal of those firmware problems, which were built in in favor for AT&T, does not cause "damage" as they want to make us believe. So the battle between the corporations and hackers continue. The community has already been polarized with some siding with Apple and others with the iPhone Dev Team. We'll keep you guys updated on this as more news comes out. |

The image (left) shows the list compiled by the iPhone Dev Team of 32 countries and 69 carriers with the iPhone software unlock already been tested and good to go. The phones were confirmed to have working incoming and outgoing calls, as well as SMS compatibility, EDGE/GPRS access, and non-visual voicemail access. In actuality, however, the list above has recently been appended with an additional 10 countries and 11 carriers according to additional contributions from the source's website. With the growing number of software unlocked iPhones being made available worldwide, who knows? Perhaps you'll find a working iPhone just around the corner from where you live before you know it. Additional countries and carriers include:

Aside from the battle against Apple and the whole legal hoopla on
tinkering with your personally owned iPhone, independent homebrew
developers are at war against each other, so to speak, on coming up
with a program that will ultimately unlock the gadget.iPhoneSIMFree came up with it first but the thing with these devs is that they want the application to be purchased wholesale, meaning end-users will not benefit much from it. We learned the other day, that a group of another coders collectively known as iPhone Dev Team released the program iUnlock, which is ready for download anytime. We have to remind you that installing iUnlock is not as easy as using iPhoneSIMFree. But if you really want to make your iPhone open source, a little courage and technical know-how should do the trick for you. There are a couple of files needed and procedures to be followed to avoid any problems whatsoever. To avoid these so-called problems, here are the steps directly from the developers themselves. No one will be held liable except yourself if you brick your iPhones. All files mentioned in the procedures can be downloaded at DL.QJ.NET with the link provided after the jump. The step-by-step procedure and the download link after the jump! |
