Hybrid OS lovers were ecstatic to find that the latest Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard came with the complete release of Boot Camp,
a utility which helps install Windows-based applications on the Mac.
While the idea of Microsoft and Apple holding hands in solidarity was
something rather farfetched a little while back, evidence of growing
compatibility between the two rival OS types has slowly been piling up.Read more about this in the full article! |

Rumors have been going around recently after website Switch to a Mac speculated
that new Apple MacBook and MacBook Pro models should be revealed soon.
Some say there's nothing more to it than old tricks of predicting Apple
releases, while others believe the idea is feasible.According to observations, Apple updated the MacBook twice since its May 16, 2006 release with an average of 182 days interval between revisions, so expecting a new Macbook around November 6 would sound like a good bet. If that date is right on the money, the average will remain at 182 days. However, predictions for a new MacBook Pro also factor in. Apple updated the MacBook Pro for three times since its June 10, 2006 release with 170 days in-between, making November 13 the ideal date. In case this actually happens, the MacBook is expected to get a new model about three weeks earlier. To further support the wild guess for revised MacBook models, Switch to a Mac added: Apple's new Leopard operating system
has revealed drivers for the Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics chip,
a successor to the Intel GMA 950 which is used in current MacBooks.
This finding would imply that the next MacBook revision may be upgraded
to the Santa Rosa chipset and that a MacBook revision is imminent. |

Planning to dual-boot your Intel PCs with Apple OS X Leopard, or just want to install Leopard on your Intel PCs? Good news: the folks over at the OSx86 scene managed to crack the Leopard and found a way to install it in Intel-powered PCs, and just the day before its launch date to boot! Installing the Leopard on a hackintosh only requires the following: burnable DVD and USB thumb drive.BrazilMAC in OSx86 scene managed to work out two installation methods, first of which uses a DVD-RW to make a DVD image of the OS, or just setting up a partition to load the install files from. The steps may look difficult at first glance, but the how-to steps are thoroughly outlined so there shouldn't be any problems in trying it out. Willing to take the plunge? Check out this short list first before deciding to install Leopard first. If you're decided, do click on the Read link to check out the steps in installing Leopard on Intel PCs! |

Apple is once again waiting for the go signal from Intel before announcing another update for its Mac Pro workstations. The revamped Mac Pro will use Intel's new Penryn processor and will be the first architectural overhaul to the Mac Pro line since Apple announced the Intel-based Power Mac last year. According to AppleInsider, Apple's contribution on hardware manufacturing is essentially complete. The Cupertino-based company is merely waiting on when Intel can deliver enough of its new 45-nanometer CPUs, specifically the Hi-k Xeons. The new Mac Pro line will feature two quad-core "Harpertown" Intel processors with front-side bus speeds of 1.6 GHz and 12MB of L2 cache. The new 45-nm Xeons, which feature clock speeds of up to 3.2GHz, will reportedly arrive starting mid-November. |

Reports have it that Apple has already finalized all of the features for its next operating system Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. We also got word that its current OS, Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, has just received its final maintenance and security updates. This is consistent to earlier reports that Leopard has finally reached the release candidate stage. Furthermore, AppleInsider points out that Apple has started giving out hand-outs and training materials to its staff to prepare for the Leopard launch. According to speculations, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard will be available in the week of October 22 with October 26 targeted as the official launch. Meanwhile, the above mentioned updates come in two packages - build 8S161 for Power PC Macs and build 8S2161 for Intel Macs. These two focused primarily on Dashboard with fixes provided on the software's underlying Webkit foundation and number-oriented widgets. Apple, however, keeps mum on the matter. The only official things dished out by the company are the seeds update for Leopard named 9A557/9A559 designed to fix wireless networking and RAW image viewing. |

"Made in Vietnam" could be the newest thing you'll see printed on the back of your iPhones or Nintendo Wiis in the near future. Taipei-based Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), the world's largest contractor for electronics, announced that they will be expanding their operation to Vietnam.Responsible for the production of products such as Apple's iPhone and iPod, as well as Nintendo's Wii console, Foxconn decided to continue to diversify their plant operations to Vietnam to maintain their cost-efficient business practices within the most efficient manufacturing area outside of China. A deal was already signed last August 29 with Foxconn's chief executive Terry Gou and Vietnam's Ministry of Planning and Investment investing a US$ 5 billion contract into various high tech and supporting industries projects. Also, Foxconn has invested US$ 160 million in two plants in the Que Vo Industrial Zone, as well as hiring about 500 local university graduates with plans of hiring up to a maximum of 300,000 employees. Tung Kim Nguyen, a partner at Indochina Capital, had this to say about Vietnam: Vietnam is the next outsource manufacturing centre of Asia, this is because of a China-plus-one strategy that manufacturers are adopting and a response to anti-dumping suits that will be hitting the Chinese point of origin manufacturers hard over the next few years Intel has already had their eye on Vietnam for some time. They announced that they would build a US billion plant near Ho Chi Minh, prompting other manufacturing giants such as Toshiba and Matsushita to pledge future investments. |
