iTunes - Image 1For people who reflexively press on the "OK" button whenever there's a new update available, now is a good time to practice restraint. Disgruntled iTunes users have updated to iTunes 7.3 - the new update required for iPhone users - and found themselves getting the message "unknown error - 50" which prevents them from saving any changes to the library after the update.

Some people uninstalled their iTunes to remedy the problem (Note: Remember to backup your files before doing so) and rolled back to iTunes 7.2. Many iTunes users - most of them not owning or not even planning to own an iPhone - were very disappointed with the bugged update so far, to say the least.

If you happen to get the same problem, it's best to call Apple's support hotline to get proper assistance.

Here's something that could catch the eye of the passing iTunes fan...and probably the videogame vets. We were looking over Youtube when we found an old video dating back to 1992. It was done on a Commodore Amiga, which at the time was a competitor for PC and Apple. This particular video on the left is titled "State of the Art" is by the Spaceballs demo group, and while we thought it looked cool, we got a strange sense of deja vu...

Yeah, we know - it bears a striking resemblance to the theme a lot of the recent iTunes commercials carry. To give you an idea of what we mean, check out the Apple ad on the right for comparison. Kind of interesting how the past comes back to us in other interesting ways....

1.2.1For those who haven't been able to plug their iPod into their computers yet (what kind of creature are you?!), you might want to do so now. There's currently a new update available. Apple has rolled out iPod Update 1.2.1. Now there's been quite a lot of speculation regarding this update.

No one seems to be too sure for which iPod it really is for. Whether it's for the 5th-gen or for the 5.5-gen, or for what model at that. I myself haven't been able to get this update into my lowly Nano (first gen). Much to say, a lot of other people are also asking what the update brings. We've been able to scour the farther reaches of Internet space, and found out a couple of things.

As you see in the picture, all it ever mentions is that it fixes a couple of bugs. As to what it specifically fixes, some say the problem with the battery icon was fixed and will now show when the iPod is fully charged. Some say that it fixes some volume issue with audio books. Are there other bug fixes, though?

What we do suggest is that you check it out for yourself. Plug in your iPod and let it load up iTunes 7. See whether the update shows itself. If you already have, then good for you. Maybe you can comment below and give us some feedback of what you've found out.

iTunes means music and movies now!Another day, another iTunes. Today is no different, as the release of iTunes 7.0.2 heralds new features for the entertainment center.

So, what new things does Apple's iTunes hold now? Well, you get your standard set of performance tweaks and bug fixes to make iTunes run more smoothly. You also get the Cover Flow option, allowing you to flip through your music and videos as if they were CDs. How about an iPod Summary to get instant info on your iPod and its contents? Still not enough? Then you'll want to enjoy the download manager feature which lets you prioritize your downloads according to your preferences.

Now if that isn't enough, you can now purchase more stuff! In addition to purchasing iPod games, Disney movies are now up for download as well. Now, we don't want to spoil the fun of finding out which movies Disney is coming out with for 7.0.2, but we can safely say that Chris L. nearly fainted when he saw all the old-school "Snow White" and "Cinderella" movies.

That being said, if you use iTunes, don't forget to download this rather significant upgrade to your media-buying arsenal. Enjoy!

However, as far as the availability of TV shows and the like, feature films are available only in the US while while video availability varies from country to country. At the moment, games can only be downloaded in 21 countries and can only be played on fifth generation iPods.
