The Space Up! blue dashboard interface by Volkswagen and Apple - Image 1If some of you still remember the article we posted a while back about the Apple and Volkswagen "iCar" idea, it looks like the culmination of this little project has finally made an appearance with Volkswagen's new Space Up! blue dashboard interface during the recent LA Auto Show.

Read more about this sweet interface right after the jump!

The Apple Car??? - Image 1iMac, iPod, iPhone... iCar? A Volkswagen spokesperson recently announced that VW Chairman Martin Winterkorn and Apple's Steve Jobs met a few days ago in California to discuss a new type of vehicle. It may even really be called the iCar.

The only info so far about the car is that it'll be targeting a young age group, most likely the same demography as the iPhone. Likely the car won't be a huge iPhone on wheels, but the idea of a car imbued with Apple technology is still drool inducing.

If people went to hell and back to hack the iPhone, it would be something to see what they'd do for the iCar.

Have you ever dreamed of driving your own Escalade with your favorite music blaring in the background as you stroll down two blocks from your home? How about those overly modified, overly decaled Fast & the Furious cars packed with nitro? Or maybe Snoop's hydraulic cars are more to your liking? Then this is your lucky day.

EscaladeNissan

Corgi, the leading name in die-cast scale models and one of Britain's best-known brands that has been producing models for over 40 years, has come up with a speaker for your iPod called iCars. Just plug in your iPod in the input jack and the 1:24 scale Cadillac Escalade (with real working spinner wheels, chrome accessories, and big tires is available in black or pearl white) or Nissan Sylvia rocks right to left, front to back and up and down to the music. Colored lights illuminate the wheel wells, rims, and undercarriage, and the high-quality stereo speakers pump out the sound.

Even if you don't have an iPod or any other digital music player, don't fret. Each iCar comes with it's own music on demand. It runs on three AAA batteries or with an AC adapter and will be available in stores nationwide this fall for $34.99.
