12 year olds caught stealing Wii - Image 1Three kids were caught stealing from a home in Needham. Two of them were 12-year-olds, one being a boy and the other a girl. Among the things they attempted to steal were a Wii console, an iPod docking station, and a cell phone. Unlike the young boys who managed to get away with stealing video games with a sledgehammer, the kids were caught not long after the incident.

The girl was caught by a resident of the house. One of the boys was caught by the Boston Police in an alley while the other one was found two hours later. The oldest, a 15-year-old boy, will be held in a juvenile detention facility while the other two were released into the custody of their parents.

The kids, who will appear at court September 4 at midday, are facing anything from community service to detention in a juvenile facility until they're 18.

Griffin Technology's AirDock - Image 1 Griffin Technology is at it again. After releasing three new iPod cases last week, the popular accessory maker is now unveiling a new docking station - AirDock - for Apple's portable media player. The obvious advantage and unique feature of this station is that it can be controlled via remote control.

Not only that, AirDock is also capable of recharging your unit's battery whenever it's on idle mode. Griffin made sure that the accessory has the ability to sync with your computers too.

All you have to do is connect AirDock to your computer's USB port, then plug in your iPod to recharge its battery while you sync with iTunes. The accessory also comes in with "HomeConnect" cable that allows it to be connected to the stereo or TV sets.

In this way, you can actually listen to music and enjoy pictures, as well as videos, from a distance using the RF remote control. AirDock is priced for US$ 69.99. In case you are interested, the Read link should take you to Griffin Technology's product page where you can order AirDock online.

The TomTom Duo - GPS and music docking station in one - Image 1The GPS folks of TomTom introduced a whole new device called the TomTom Duo, a device that is mounted on your car's stereo dash - touchscreen facing out - and that should serve as a GPS system for the modern car. But wait, it's also claimed that the TomTom Duo will support a unique USB docking station.

The station could scan the surrounding area for Bluetooth devices, "allow direct control of iPods" and allow you to route audio of any portable device through the car's speaker system...all from the little touchscreen on the TomTom Duo!

The TomTom Duo will also allow hands-free calling through Bluetooth phones and the playing of music straight from USB storage devices. The Duo will succeed the TomTom One as a whole new dual-purpose in-car device.

AppleCome mid 2007, expect the launch of the Apple Mac Tablet PC with Docking Station. According to reports, the company researchers have now built a full working prototype of the product.

This soon-to-be newest addition to the Apple family tree is designed to handle third party application, like home automation software. This will enable the user to control the lighting, audio, entertainment devices and security feeds, as well as having a wireless linking for a new generation of Wireless Hi Fi speakers. These are also said to be still under testing by Apple.

The docking station accompanying the tablet PC will allow it to link to screens with HDMI input. Also, it will have an additional memory capability, thereby allowing you to stream content to the tablet PC. Or, you can also stream to the docking station, or straight to a media center.

For now, there are no other details regarding this product. But rest assured we'll keep you updated, so just keep it posted here.

iPods!!!In a recent filing by Tony Fadell (iPod Division senior VP), Stanley Ng (iPod product line director), and Jeff Robbin (iTunes software chief), they illustrate the possibility of having built-in wireless capabilities in iPods which allow users to sync and manage their music players even if there's no computer present.

Unlike before where you need to connect your iPod to a computer to update songs, pictures, and videos via USB, this wireless technology will let you sync your iPod with any device that supports wireless transfer, so long as you are within a docking station that allows for wireless communication.

click to see larger imageA wireless router can create a network wherein your iPods can be updated and synchronized with any media player (allowing you to copy songs, videos, and images). We should keep in mind however, that even though it's a wireless network, it's still limited because the systems that run in such networks are localized.

According to Apple, they would first have to make sure that this wireless technology for iPods would not interfere with their Digital Rights Management scheme. Meaning, your iPod would still not be able to connect or sync with a computer and access the media library if it's not authorized to do so.

The CES continues in full swing, and more and more gadgets are announced daily by more and more manufacturers. Audiovox have an interesting one to add to the growing pile - a universal iPod docking station.

No pictures or release date as yet, but once it's ready to launch, 70 dollars will get you a set of 'super bass' speakers with docking space able to accept any iPod model, from 1st generation to Video, or even the Shuffle. While docked, your iPod will also be recharged (the docking station connects to the mains).

Whilst docking stations with amplifiers or speakers are far from new and exciting, this looks like the first to be compatible with so many different iPod models, from the oldest to the latest. Although designed to fit iPods, Audiovox say that the docking station will work with a wide range of other MP3 players too.
