Apple Mac OS X Leopard - Image 1Somehow echoing the success of Apple's groundbreaking iPhone, the latest version of Apple's OS X Leopard reportedly sold like pancakes, selling over two million copies since its launch last Friday. Steve Jobs was of course, proud of OS X Leopard's apparent success. Said Jobs:

Early indications are that Leopard will be a huge hit with customers. Leopard's innovative features are getting great reviews and making more people than ever think about switching to the Mac.

Leopard has so far outshot OS X Tiger's sales performance, which managed to sell its two millionth copy six weeks after its launch.

Apple's iPhone Dev Center inaugurated - Image 1And now you know: if Apple's Steve Jobs said they'll give iPhone third-party developers the support they need, they will. We've caught word of Apple's launching of the iPhone Dev Center, an Internet portal for numerous third-party developers to discuss and review issues and updates to the iPhone's web development path.

The site already comes with plenty of generated content, including tech videos and how-tos, plus a wealth of introductions to first time and intermediate web developers for the iPhone platform. There's also some sample code to be had, with half a share of interface samples on one side and another half covering simple puzzle games.

Now all the other third-party developers will need is the iPhone software development kit (SDK) Jobs promised and they're set. But they'll have to wait until February 2008 at the least for that. For the time being, acquaint yourselves in the semi-training atmosphere Apple has set up, much like previous impressions the company has left on some.

Apple - Image 1Apple has come out with a press release looking ahead to record financial gains in the fiscal year 2007. Macintosh computers, iPod portable music players, and the hot-selling iPhone mobile handset are all earmarked as major factors for a fantastic year.

According to Apple, revenues will hit around US$ 6.22 billion with US$ 904 million dollars in net profit. Those figures are significantly better than fiscal 2006's final monetary tally.

"We are very pleased to have generated over $24 billion in revenue and $3.5 billion in net income in fiscal 2007," said Steve Jobs, AppleÂ?s CEO. "WeÂ?re looking forward to a strong December quarter as we enter the holiday season with AppleÂ?s best products ever."

"Apple ended the fiscal year with $15.4 billion in cash and no debt," adds Peter Oppenheimer, AppleÂ?s CFO. "Looking ahead to the first quarter of fiscal 2008, we expect revenue of about $9.2 billion and earnings per diluted share of about $1.42."

Apple is looking poised to take over the holiday season with sales of its iPod, iPhone, and Mac computers expected to reach all-year highs in North America and Europe.

Apple reminds everyone, though, that this information is based on estimates using the most recent data available. External factors such as court decisions, consumer response, and economic conditions may affect the final results of fiscal 2007.

Apple growth faster than Microsoft - Image 1The iPod was a success - the iPhone was a success - the iPod Touch is a success. The effect? The word is spreading and the Mac is more popular than ever: research indicates that the company may move to become third strongest computer company in the US when it releases its latest quarterly report.

Currently, Apple may be moving at a faster pace than Microsoft which took nearly seven years to launch the Vista after Windows XP. Apple, on the other hand, is releasing a new operating system almost every year. Their latest, the Leopard version of the OS X, will actually be released this Friday.

Steve Jobs, on comparing the Vista and Leopard, commented that Apple's gives more value for money than Microsoft's Ultimate Edition (Vista's most elite version): "Everybody gets the Ultimate edition and it sells for 129 bucks, [...] the Ultimate edition of Vista [...] sells for 250 bucks."

Apple is particularly popular for its laptops. Two-thirds of a Apple machines sold in the US are laptops. In terms of revenue, Apple already outstripped the competition (because their machines are [generally] more expensive). A lot of their consumers are former Windows users who have crossed over to the other side, partly in thanks to the success of the iPod and iPhone.

The research firm Gartner has forecasted that Apple will rise 37% in the market. And if Leopard continues the tradition and sweeps the market off its feet, what's Apple's plan? Upgrades. Lots of product upgrades for the Leopard that might last for as long as a decade, says Jobs.
