It's sometimes hard to keep up with all the dates and events we end up listing in different places. Fortunately, developer Sangwook Han was able to create a homebrew application which syncs your iPhone's Calendar function with that of Google Calendar, fitting all those dates into one neat package on your mobile phone. A new technology called BD Touch from NetBlender will be introduced this Thursday which will feature the possible fusion of Sony's Blu-ray technology with Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch devices. The Apple UK press team has confirmed that they plan on releasing iPhone firmware version 1.1.2 this coming November 9 through iTunes. Currently, no exact time has been revealed for this update.

But U.S.-based iPhone users can expect that they will get a prompt tomorrow if they want to upgrade to the new firmware, that is if they synced their iPhones with iTunes.

We're not one to pull the Apple fan's leg here, so we're just going to go out on a limb and say that we're kind of skeptical about this leakage. While the document itself actually highlights very interesting features of a possible phone, the name Apple Computer, Inc. hasn't been used for quite a while. Apple goes by Apple, Inc. now, as registered in NASDAQ (NASDAQ key: AAPL).

But in credibility of the document, there are a lot of interesting things that can be derived. First and foremost is the name Aloha OS X, which this document illustrates the architecture of. "Aloha" is a trademark by Apple in Hong Kong that has links to the iPhone that is under development. Let's get the other details from what we could derive from this so-called "confidential document" from "Apple Computer, Inc.":

• WebKit Module, Apple80211: surf, chat, e-mail features seems to be covered here
• Sync Services, Core Audio: music playing capabilities and music file syncing
• Core Video, Codecs: video playing capabilities, probable video recording capabilities
• GamesEmulator.app, OpenGL, GPU: if it's OpenGL 1.2, then games played on this puppy phone are "hawt"
• Onyx: "OMG" doesn't even begin to cover this part; next-gen mobile and VoIP services soon to come

The most interesting points are the GPU and the integration of Synaptics' next-generation mobile phone concept, called Onyx (not OnyX, although we could be mistaken and "Onyx" is a typo). These both highlight that the "device" is being ambitiously developed for the new age of telecommunications and mobile lifestyles.

But whether these features will actually make it to the iPhone by June 11 remains a mystery until the next official announcement. You could say that the document could be representing the Apple's iPhone after all. Imagine if Sony gets their hands on this document...

It may not be a loud issue, but there's a good number of Powerbook users who have had the desire to take advantage of the Bluetooth functions that their computer can wield but trouble in finding the perfect proximity detector application has prevented them from doing so.

Security issues have compounded this minor irk in the Apple computing world. Along with the ability to sync and remotely access peripherals came risks of exploits from other users. To date, there's a handful of proximity programs but only a couple give some real satisfaction.

Proximity is among the most popular applications of the sort because it efficiently does what it says it will: provide you with Bluetooth proximity detection. There are absolutely no frills, no complicated menus and no confusion involved. The only chink is that there's also no security functions.

Home Zone, on the other hand, is another cool program that offers a few security functions and some added oohs and ahhs. There's little to complain about the Bluetooth detection, but as a special bonus, it also has WiFi detection capabilities. The catch? It's only in its beta stages and it still isn't too user-friendly. We hope that the aforementioned factor can be addressed because Home Zone is such a promising project.

Other than the two, there's not a lot of other choices. The demand for a great Bluetooth app may not be overwhelming, but we say Apple can be that much better if it gives this little alley in its community a closer look.

Complaining of the stability status of your iPod? Apple has the fix ready for you. The Cupertino company has released the iTunes 7.1.1 to address the aforementioned issue and to expand its overall compatibility as well.

The update is available for both Macintosh and Windows platforms. The software is used in conjunction with the iPod  to rip and import songs from Cds, download media and organize files.

Apple proudly describes the application as "the worldÂ?s best way to organize and enjoy your personal digital music and video collection with your Mac. iTunes is also the easiest way to sync music, videos, and more with your iPod." The update is applicable to OS X 10.3.9 or higher and current Windows XP versions.

One of the hottest rumors going around the Intertubes these days is that the Apple TV will be able to play games. The main cannon, or "smoking gun," if you will, used in defense of this theory is MacScoop's claim that an internal iTunes file provides clear evidence that the Apple TV will indeed be capable of playing games.

The iTunes file in question contains the strings that appear in dialog boxes. One string in particular reads, "Are you sure you want to sync games? All existing games on the Apple TV "^1" will be replaced with games from this iTunes library." MacUser, however, contends that this string of code is hardly any evidence.

According to MacUser, anybody who takes a quick look at the file /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Localizable.strings will find that the section of strings that applies to the Apple TV is "pretty much identical to the section of strings for the iPod (with, of course, all instances of "iPod" replaced with "Apple TV")."

Hence, MacUser says, the only thing the whole "string theory" proves is that "the developer in charge of updating the strings knows how to use copy/paste and find/replace." Of course, Apple could still bring games to the Apple TV in the future, but as MacUser says, Apple is more likely to announce the feature with much fanfare, not hiding it in a text file.
