It's yet to be confirmed, but Gizmodo reports that one of their readers tipped them off to a somewhat disturbing thing taking place in Apple and Best Buy stores in the East Coast: retail outlets would no longer be receiving old Apple keyboards. iMacs are still being received in Apple and Best Buy in Oakbrook and Michigan, but old boards seem to have a contrasting status. Nobody knows what this means and stores haven't really given an explanation. There's nothing to confirm that Apple will come out with rumored new keyboard in the near future, making the situation more bizarre. We'll try to get an update on this one as soon as new word comes in. |

Eminem's music publishing company Eight Mile Style has filed a copyright infringement case against Apple which has been selling the said artist's songs through iTunes. Eminem's company said that about 70 to 80 songs are involved in this lawsuit and among them include tracks from the Grammy award-winning The Eminem Show. Currently, the company holds the copyright, or partial copyright, of the tracks in question. So far, Eight Mile Style is asking for US$ 75,000 for copyright infringement, unfair competition and a violation of the Michigan consumer protection act. In addition to this, it is also seeking US$ 150,000 in damages per infringement. This is not the first time Eminem has had a run in with Apple. Back in 2004 he also sued the company for copyright infringement, saying that the company had used his song Lose Yourself in a TV commercial without permission. The company and Eminem eventually reached a settlement. Will we be seeing the same thing here? |

Since Apple allowed universities to post lectures and other educational items on iTunes, universities have grabbed the opportunity to spread the knowledge. George Washington University, Duke University, North Carolina Central University, and Ohlone College are just some of the universities that have joined iTunes U.With that, a bill was put forward on Michigan recently that includes a proposal to give out US$ 38 million in iPods or other mp3 players as instructional tools for every student in the state. But even if the Michigan legislators mean well, they were still questioned by school representatives. According to Don Wotruba, spokesman for the Michigan Association of School Boards: My members are telling me they have much more pressing things theyÂ?re worried about, like whether theyÂ?re going to be able to make payroll in May. |

Apple is now allowing universities to post lectures and other educational items on iTunes so that students can download the classes and listen to them on the go. It seems that the idea of putting the lectures online is quickly catching on, with more universities tapping Apple for the service.Reportedly, the idea began almost without much fanfare, with a student at the University of Michigan asking students which form they would prefer best in disseminating the information online. Without much thought, the students overwhelmingly picked the iPod because of its ease of use and mobility. iTunes U was introduced to the dental school there. Stanford is the latest in growing number of universities taking advantage of the service. Sheesh, who knew school WOULD finally be so cool? [Via, Hexus] |
