Yesterday, we reported that over 75 movie downloads from various production companies such as Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Touchstone Pictures, and Miramax Films are currently being made available for the iTunes 7. Now, if you're not a big fan of walking to the nearest video store near you, then that spells good news. However, getting those for free sounds like a way better news to us. And with iTunes7 you can do just that, but not with movies. Instead, ABC is offering FREE downloads for last season's finales of "Lost", "Desperate Housewives," and "Grey's Anatomy." Cool, huh? With this, you can take the girls of Wisteria Lane with you wherever you go, provided that you have your iPod with you. Reports say that a million copies would be made available, so if you're in the US, you better hurry while these free goodies are still around. And just to clarify, only the season finale episodes of these TV shows will be made available for free. So if you haven't watched any of these shows yet, you better get your hands on the previous episodes first. But if you're a big fan of spoilers, or just want to check out the last episodes first just for the heck of it, well by all means, go on a downloading frenzy. Just don't spill the beans for those who aren't in the know. |

When I was about eight or nine years old, I've undergone a heart operation. I don't remember much about it except that when I entered the operating room, it was silent...deadly silent. To someone who's going under a nerve-wracking experience, the silence didn't help calm my nerves. But nowadays, people who are undergoing surgery may have a different experience.More and more surgeons are now playing music while performing an operation. Although different music equipments are being used, even at the operating room - also often referred to as operating theater - the iPod still remains the preferred choice. The use of music during surgery has been mentioned as far back as 50 years ago, with recent research suggesting that music has mild benefits for both the patient and the surgeon. The topic also figures in television shows such as Chicago Hope and Grey's Anatomy. Although it's already widely practiced, the use of music during surgery still has no determined protocols as to how it will be implemented or what type of music will be used. Most of the time, the surgeon has the say about the playlist. Sometimes, the patient is asked what music s/he'd like in the background. In the last dozen years, at least five studies show that music can have benefits - or at least no effects - for surgeons and patients. If I'd have to undergo another operation (though I pray the experience will never happen again), I'd have just one request: Please don't ever play Blind Lemon Jefferson's See That My Grave Is Kept Clean...I don't want to think about grave and coffins while being under the knife. o__O |
