There's a GBA emulator on the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch, and it goes by the name of gpSPhone. Sounds familiar? gpSPhone is based off of Exophase's gpSP homebrew emulator for the Sony PlayStation Portable. GP2X developer ZodTTD adopted the gpSP code and added a few coding tricks. And voila! ZodTTD presents gpSPhone version 0.4 and it though it leaves a lot to be desired in interface and presentation, it works like a charm. With future upgrades at the horizon, there's a lot of promise coming for Apple gamers everywhere. |

An official announcement made available recently called out news that the game adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has shipped across North America and should also be available in Europe by June 28. The game developed under the watchful eyes of Electronic Arts is now available on almost every current platform imaginable. Boasting a non-linear gameplay feature, the title will allow players to explore the innards of Hogwarts Academy and uses an intuitive spell-casting gesture system that should please gamers on the Nintendo Wii. The game will boast the authenticity of the movie, from locales to characters, so we won't spill the story details until everyone's comfortable with the motion picture release. Otherwise, the EA UK-developed game is rated E 10+ for Everyone (10+) and should be available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 for a suggested retail price of US$ 59.99, the Nintendo Wii for US$ 49.99, the PlayStation 2 and PSP for US$ 39.99, and the Nintendo DS, GBA, PC and Mac for US$ 29.99. Another ported version for your game-capable mobile phone is also slated for release, although no price has been named as of press time. |

Sure the Apple TV has nearly everything you can ever want - save for the video games. There is speculation that the Apple TV may be able to support games in the future, though they will likely be bought from the iTunes store or would have to be in a certain format.Well, some people found a way to hack into Apple's entertainment system and got emulators working on it. Reportedly, there are five available emulators for the Apple TV: Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), Nintendo64, Nintendo Gameboy Advance (GBA), and Sega Genesis. Instructions and the emulators themselves (we suppose the ROMs as well) now litter the interwebs but we shall insert a disclaimer here: Tampering with the Apple TV might void your warranty, not to mention render the unit useless. According to the report, hackers are also trying to find a way to work the Xbox360 with the Apple TV and are making progress. The "service only" USB port has been hacked into and so enabling the use of joysticks. Rumors say that in/famous Jon Lech Johansen has gotten hold of an Apple TV. We'll see what comes of that in the future. For now, be careful with those emulators. |

It's reminiscent of a mini-game in The Sims: Bustin' Out for the GBA, and Apple fans swear to the addictive nature of it.We're talking about Frenzic, a puzzle game available for the Mac OS X. Like Bubble Bobble and Tetris, the game offers addictive fun to Mac users in a refreshingly new way. It's quite fast-paced, and some Frenzic fanatics have even claimed that playing the game can induce labor in pregnant women. We're still not sure what to make of that piece of news, though. In Frenzic, a player has five lives at first. To earn points, players must place pie pieces in any outer circle according to their position whenever pie pieces appear in the inner circle. Completed pies are cleared from the board and if you do not place a pie piece before the timer expires, one life is lost. There will be bonus points given when the fewest colors possible are used in completing a whole pie. The more circles you complete with a single color, the more you earn lives and bonus points. There are advancing levels and growing bonuses available also as you progress through the game. Of course, the game ends when all lives are lost, and no, we don't know of any cheats for this game. The game, made by ARTIS Software, is out now. Frenzic fanatics everywhere suggest various ways on how to be successful at the game, but remember: if every piece could be placed correctly, you would never lose a life and the game would go on forever... |
