You want some cool new peripherals for your portable audio gizmos? Then check out these newbies on the block from Eleksen. They have just announced the launch of their new smart fabric modules that is molded to cater to your discerning audio gadgets tastes. The first one is their electronics module for FM radio. It's basically a stand-alone FM radio unit, whose control is based on the new ElekTex fabric sensor, with the Interface technology incorporated in it. This Elektexis an electro-conductive fabric touchpad, and can be used as a kind of housing protector for your electronic gadget. The sensor on its jacket sleeve or backpack handle allows you to control your gadget from your pocket. And then, there's an "updated electronics modules for iPod and iPod + Bluetooth devices." Another add-on for the ever-popular iPod, eh? Let's see how this measures up. Now, this also takes advantage of the ElekTex sensor, which, as explained earlier, can be embedded into a lot of other apparel and soft-goods accessories. To be more precise, it is "programmable and compatible with a range of electronics including iPods, smartphones, and other personal digital devices." That's all the info we have on this for now, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on more bits as they come. |

Like other Griffin products from before, this one will allow easy tuning with the SmartDisplay user interface that shows the selected frequency. You can preset your favorite station frequencies for easy access. You can even jump from mono and stereo modes effortlessly. Even with the huge space in your iPod flash memory, there's bound to be a time when you want a degree of unpredictability that is beyond just shuffling tracks. For those days, the Pocket will be more than willing to serve. |

iPod docks typically come in small sizes. Of course, there's always the exception - like the Tune-In Bed. Today we came across another one thanks to Uber-Review: the Geneva Sound System XL. Check it out on the right.Looks custom made for an iPod, right? Actually, aside from working as an iPod dock, the Geneva Sound System XL can also act as a huge speaker for other mp3 players. You can also connect it to vinyl, TV or any audio using the bundled audio and line-in (RCA) cables. It also has a built-in FM radio receiver and a slot-loading CD that can read both audio CDs and mp3s. Yeah, it's big - it weighs 38kg and is 61cm high - but that's because it has a 600-watt high fidelity digital amplifier. This behemoth is available in three colors: white, red, and black. The price? US$ 1,075 without the optional aluminum floor stand, US$ 1,194 with it. Oh, and it also comes with a remote control. |

Freshome decided to survey one of the more interesting lines of iPod/MP3 player accessories out there: pillows. Seems like everyone's embedding speakers into the favored nighty-night companion. We've covered one of the seven devices they've surveyed, the Pillow Pod, but the other six turn out to be interesting in their own right. There's the iPod Speaker Pillow set that comes in Rectangle and Neck - the Neck's gonna be useful for those long, long, long car trips. Options like the sports-themed iPod speaker pillows or the Cozy Tunes Speaker Pillow carry only the basic function of serving as a soft speaker. The Sound Pillow doubles as an MP3 player speaker and a tinnitus relaxer, actually designed by the UK Royal National Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Most interesting perhaps are the iPod Pillow and the Music Cure Pillow (the two serve as this article's top images). The iPod pillow isn't just a speaker: it also has a built-in FM tuner and the buttons on the darn thing work! (For volume, switch-to-radio, scan for station, and power-off). The Music Cure Pillow may be the priciest of the bunch, but it also ensures the best night's sleep. For it integrates speakers with ergonomic posture tech: "the pillow is made of viscoelastic foam... supports and relieves pressure on the heads and shoulders, thereby minimizing the risk of bedsores." That certainly sounds like a lullaby. Now, to find the bed that goes with this... |

Shiny
Awards. The name may not sound like much to you, but it's the Oscars of
the techie gadget world. Hosted by none other than Shiny Media, the most
recent award ceremonies was held at London, the night of February 21,
2007. LG, with their Chocolate mobile phone, Roberto Cavalli LG phone and the BH100, bagged two wins, a runner up spot, and the lovely and equally stunning Colleen over there. Of the most notable, and laughable, highlights during the night was the wicked ASBO Gadget of the Year award. ASBO, short for Anti-Social Behavior Order, describes the gadget that could be best used to annoy people around you. But wait, who needs a gadget to annoy people? Samsung - those poor chaps - won that award fair and square with their K5 MP3 player. It won not because of its small profile and even smaller speakers, but because the "itsy bitsy" speakers are actually very powerful - almost too powerful. We also noted that Apple's iPod Nano and (*gasp!* lo and behold!) Nintendo's Wii, bagged their own prizes from this prestigious event. And look, even Bethesda Softwork's The Elder Scrolls Legends IV: Oblivion and Nintendo's Wii Sports gets to bring home something for Mommy.
