More rumors about the release of iPhone has found its way around the internet again. Freshly fueled by a report from the China Economic News Service, T3 has speculated that the iPhone could possibly get an earlier-than-when-everyone-expected release. This is due to the fact that Apple has already asked for parts for the iPhone, which will begin its mass manufacturing next month. This little detail has led T3 to assume that Apple's probably gotten the green-light from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). With a go-signal for manufacturing, this could also possibly mean that a few "gaps in development" have now been filled in, and that the software for the mobile phone has been finished. Sound logic, T3; personally, I'd like to hope as much for an early release too. As far as anything official goes, there's no word yet, so we'll keep you guys updated for sure. |

The iPhone FCC confidentiality letter (previously dated as June 15 of this year) got some people thinking that they'll be getting their iPhones this June. The document is a request from Apple for the FCC to keep info about their mobile brand, specifically external photos, internal setup, test setup photos and the user manual under wraps until June 15. It's quite normal for a company to think about its corporate health as competitors (and possibly pirates) might steal the info to gain market advantage. The peeps over at Phone Scoop discovered the photoshopped fake and found the real one that's dated January 15. So what does this mean? We're still in the dark as to the iPhone's real release date. Patience, people. Patience. |

After it has just been pointed out how delayed the iPhone actually is because of its lack of 3G technology, rumors are now spreading, saying that this little deficiency will be patched up. So, if you were considering getting yourself an iPhone in the future, then you might want to hold out a bit longer since it may be that a 3G-capable "iPhone2" may already be in the works with the FCC.As to why the iPhone didn't have 3G in the first place, a network engineer for the iPhone has been quoted for saying that this is because "less than 1% of Cingular customers have HSDPA capability" and that "he target users wouldn't know the difference anyway". So, with an audience who normally spends only up to US$ 200 on a new cellphone, will having 3G-capability finally convince consumers to shell out US$ 499 or US$ 599 for a mobile phone? Stay tuned. |

A new Mighty Mouse (the single-button right clickable mouse) is on the way, if a FCC filing by Apple is any indication to go by. It will feature a very similar look to the current Mighty Mouse, but minus the wire! Pictures shown here are from the FCC filing by Apple, and it is reported that this new incarnation of the Mighty Mouse will use two standard AA batteries and will be compatible with Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) and later. If you are still using Jaguar (Mac OS X 10.2) indications are that, like the current Mighty Mouse, it will be operational with reduced functionality. A couple of questions remain about the new mouse, namely the price (expected to fall around the US$70 mark), battery life (it's powered by AA batteries), and the side-squeeze buttons (which have had a lukewarm reception). No date has been announced by Apple for the release (codenamed 'M6'), but it is expected to be announced during the WWDC 2006 Conference spanning August 7 - 11.
