Apple's best-selling MacBook Air just got a good, hefty price cut of US$ 500 off its previous US$ 3,098 price tag, bringing it down to only US$ 2,598. It's certainly good news for prospective buyers, though we really can't say the same for early adopters. More in the full article. |

The rumor on Apple's new line of iMac turns out to be half-true, half-false. Truth is that there will be an upgrade to the iMac. False is that it will be coming out next week. That's because the upgrades have already been revealed. Yep, the sweet changes have been confirmed and you may all check it out at the full article. |

Apple's known for keeping secrets, though rumors about new MacBook SKUs soon to hit retail got out. Just a day after fellow blogger Tim Y. reported on a plausible product list hinting at the new models, the Cupertino-based company decided it was high time to make it official. The 2008 line of MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops have been introduced, with specifications updated for the current mobile generation. |

It's the curse of a lot of gadgetphiles out there to fall in love with gadgetry but just not have enough to support the gadget lifestyle. Most just sit and wait for prices to go down (only to have a new and better gadget crop up). But going back to the point. Perhaps you wanted an iMac but your budget just doesn't cut it? Maybe you'll consider getting one now: Apple is offering a bunch of refurbished iMacs and tossing them out at a discount. Most of them are going for as low as 17% off. More in the full article. |

It looks as if keyboard issues won't quit on Apple's MacBook line, because the Cupertino-based company also rolled out the red carpet for a keyboard firmware update for the Macbook and Macbook Pro. Though the symptoms of the problems Apple needed to solve were typically different in nature, rolling out two keyboard updates this early in 2008 is tough not to ponder over. Now, here's something you don't see everyday - one of the fastest rated laptops for this year by PC World is the Apple Macbook Pro 17"...running on a Windows Vista Premium OS.The the test was undertaken using a combination of the WorldBench 6 Tests, at which the MacBook Pro rated an 88, and by running two-graphics intensive games: Far Cry, and Doom 3. The Apple machine passed the Doom 3 test with flying colors, thanks in part to its new nVidia GeForce 8600M GT card, which also allowed it to play Far Cry at a staggering 141 frames per second. The video card is bolstered by a 2.4-GHz Core 2 Duo T7700 CPU, 4GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. This added up to a machine that the testers say was also light for its screen size - 6.6 pounds, although at the loss of a considerable bit of battery life - 2 hours and 45 minutes. |

The Mac Mini is by far the smallest desktop computer from Apple. It's been said that it's being targetted at those interested in a low budget personal computer. While news regarding the product has died down a bit, Steve Jobs has assured the public that it is still very much alive and will be released with a faster processor. There are two models currently available at the Apple store, the 1.83 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo (US$ 599) and the 2 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo (US$ 799). The lower priced Mac is packaged with 1 GB of ram and an 80GB hard drive, while the higher end unit will also ship with 1GB of RAM and a significantly larger 120GB hard drive. All the units are not pre-packaged with a monitor, keyboard, or mouse but you can order these in addition to your system. All in all, both packages look like very attractive alternatives to low cost systems. After looking over the specs, this blogger finds himself wishing that Steve Jobs would create a high-end system designed for gaming while retaining the form factor of the Mac Mini. That would just be sublime. |
