Not to be outdone by other handheld FPS ports, developer ZodTTD recently released a new homebrew shooter port of id Software's Quake for the iPhone and iPod touch.

This release of quake4iphone includes a shareware version of the first two levels of Quake. It is possible to add your retail copy of the .pak files to enable the rest of the game's levels. Users can modify the screen mapped virtual keys - Ctrl, Shift, and Alt - can be reconfigured by editing the config.conf file included with the game.

The developer also added short list of things to expect in future versions of the game:

• Add tesu's controller skin.
• Add a key to go back from the menu.
• Make sure saved games work.
• Make sure internet multiplayer works.
• Small tweaks where needed.

To download quake4iphone, you can install the game through the Cydia installer, after searching for it through the ZodTTD repository. The developer also invites everyone to leave any feedback at the project's source page, accessible through the link below.
