iPhone, iPod touch 1.1.3 update problems - Image 1

iLounge reports that there are some widespread claims that the latest firmware update for the iPhone and iPod Touch are causing the units to become inoperable. If you own either of the devices, you may want to hold off updating your system to firmware 1.1.3.

According to iLounge, the update has the tendency to get their iPod Touch and iPhone units to get stuck in recovery mode. When users try to restore their units, a dialog box reporting an unknown error pops up (like the one pictured above).

Some users have been able to restore their units by deleting or re-installing iTunes or past software update files, but these methods aren't always successful. It should also be noted that some of these reports come from users whose units were never jailbroken.

It's a bit odd that these reports come after Gizmodo reported that firmware 1.1.3 was able to recover bricked iPhones. Hopefully the issue can be cleared up soon.
