Well, I guess it had to happen sooner or later: that the sales of Apple's iPod Nano would begin to taper off at some point. After all, doesn't everyone already own a Nano? But it isn't as simple as that, reports Macworld. While many customers already do own their Nanos, piracy and Nano knock-offs are beginning to make much more of an appearance in the Far East.

Some of the devices look almost identical to the Nano, fooling lots of people. Those who aren't fooled, though, are lured in by the vast cost difference between a knock-off and a genuine Nano. DigiTimes reports that the problem, though always evident in the past, is now growing in complexity and sophistication.

The devices: Have the same capacity and offer games, audio recording and radios built-in, the report explains. They are 40-50 per cent cheaper than Apple's product, it adds. Though the problem isn't as bad in the States, I myself have yet to see a knock-off, Apple is grappling with the issue in many European and Asian countries, where copyright law, or the enforcement of copyright law, is sometimes a little fuzzier.
