The developers from website trac has released version 0.87 alpha which implements quite a number of changes including an update to the chess engine.

Caissa Chess v0.87 alpha now has an updated chess engine as well as a few new Xboard commands. In addition, the application now has Xboard protocol support with certified chess engines. Here's the complete change log as taken from the release post of the application:
