Good news to iLife customers, Apple has released several software updates for iLife '06 applications like iDVD, iMovie, iWeb and iPhoto. iDVD 6.0.2 (5MB) update addresses issues with burning some 16:9 projects and improves overall stability. And now it allows you to use either a SuperDrive or compatible third-party DVD burner for your Hollywood-style DVDs.Future filmmakers will love these updates for iMovie HD 6.0.2 (7MB). It addresses issues with Ken Burns rendering performance, scrubber bar editing performance theme image quality, PAL audio, and displaying iLife Sound Effects automatically in its iLife Media Browser. A 54.6MB installer is also available for those who want to upgrade their iMovie HD version 6.0 or 6.0.1 to a 6.0.2. Better weblife equals iWeb 1.1 (88.8MB). Updates include comment support for blogs and podcasts (.Mac published sites only),blog search support (.Mac published sites only),usability improvements to themes and templates and image management fixes to improve site performance. Updates to iPhoto 6.0.3 (13.9MB) addresses issues with the Photocasting of Smart Albums, sharing iPhoto libraries, and creating calendars and books. So whip out those photos you took on your honeymoon and share them with your loved ones in an instant. |

![]() BubbleShare enters a niche already populated by many others - web photo sharing. But they come to the table with a cool trick up their sleeve: The ability to add voice notes to each image. Even cooler, is as your slideshow of images plays, your voice notes play along with it. If you're a Mac user, there's a Universal iPhoto Plugin for bulk uploads, and a Dashboard widget for viewing. BubbleShare also offers a photocast feed (that's mac-talk for RSS feed of photographs) to capture in iPhoto if you so choose. That's the big news on BubbleShare. I'm not sure if they're just relying on the one-trick-pony thing, or if they'll be growing in the near future. I think the next move they would be smart to make, would be the ability to download slideshows with voice-overs, into a Quicktime movie format. That could be pretty useful for folks who find that sort of thing difficult using an app such as iMovie. |

As the shackles of film photography are collectively cast-off by digital photographers and more and more shots are taken without remorse, what becomes of all those photos? Regardless of whether you shoot a thousand photos a year, or a hundred, you're taking them for a reason - what are you doing with them? The obvious is to print them out - or have them printed - to hang on your wall. Maybe you made a book to set out and keep them from being forgotten on your hard drive. Photo books make great gifts as well - Apple's iPhoto Books have bailed me out of a few hard-to-buy-for family members. The digital revolution makes it easy to do just about anything with your photographs. You can wear them on t-shirts, sport them on mugs and mouse pads, you can get them printed in poster format. There's a ton of fun and cool ways to show off your eye for capturing great moments. So let us know what your favorite idea is - and if you've used a service that wow-ed you, share that as well. |
