Sources have confirmed that Apple will soon unveil a touch screen iPod with a 3.5 inch display on the media event scheduled on September 5, or tomorrow. Sporting almost the same physical attributes as Apple's wildly-popular iPhone, the reported touch screen iPod will have a hard drive instead of Flash memory, allegedly. There are also other rumors that circulate around Apple's hit devices, one being that the new line of iPods will have digital radio function. Some other rumors also mention of a Beatles catalog to be announced on the media event tomorrow However, rumors aside, we can be assured that it will work more or less the same as the current 5.5G iPod that also has video playback and a high resolution display, with improvements of course. Three kids were caught stealing from a home in Needham. Two of them were 12-year-olds, one being a boy and the other a girl. Among the things they attempted to steal were a Wii console, an iPod docking station, and a cell phone. Unlike the young boys who managed to get away with stealing video games with a sledgehammer, the kids were caught not long after the incident. The girl was caught by a resident of the house. One of the boys was caught by the Boston Police in an alley while the other one was found two hours later. The oldest, a 15-year-old boy, will be held in a juvenile detention facility while the other two were released into the custody of their parents. The kids, who will appear at court September 4 at midday, are facing anything from community service to detention in a juvenile facility until they're 18. |

A lot of speculations and rumors have been popping up in anticipation of the new iPod that's supposed to be unveiled in a press event two days from now. The latest one comes from vnunet.com who has leaked info from an industry insider. According to the leaked information, the new iPod will have a digital radio function supporting the iTunes store. This works by broadcasting the music to the device, and if you happen to like it enough, you can purchase it through the iTunes store. The implication of such a function - aside from having free music - is wireless capabilities for the new line. Wi-Fi would be the first thing to come to mind, a particularly strong suspicion, too, since that's what everyone wants and expects from the new iPod. Apple is maintaining the allure of secrecy as the theories for the new model pile up. The new iPod has a lot of hype to live up to, and we'll find out if they match up to it (or more!) after the press event on September 5. Check back for updates! |

We've already seen a lot of "fake" iPod Nano images in the past and here comes another one sent in by an anonymous source to online site Gearlive. The curious thing about this particular "leaked image" and the ones we had before is that they all look similar, so one can't help but think that these are the real ones. Amidst all these, there's one thing that is sure: there will be an Apple event scheduled to take place this Wednesday, September 5. Steve Jobs himself will be there and many believe that the CEO will finally be revealing the much-talked about third-gen iPod Nano. There is also some talk regarding an upgrade to the music player's operating system. The possibility of a new iPod announcement this September was further strengthened when various online retail stores implemented a price cut last month for current gen iPods, hinting that Apple is on its way to clear excess stock. |

Well, the long wait may finally be over for those pining for the new iPod models Apple has been promising us. Steve Jobs will be announcing the new line of iPods by September 5, earlier than most speculations floating around as to when the event would take place.Sources from AppleInsider say that four different models will be introduced next month. These include NAND flash-based innovations for both the iPod video and the iPod Nano series. There has also been word of the upgrading of the iPod's OS based on the Mac OS X. It has been confirmed, however, through interface concept videos from MacRumors that Apple has been working on a Mac-OS based iPod software that will retain their click-wheels. One of the anticipated models to be revealed is the rumored "iPhone Nano." The possibility of this coincides with the unveiling of the original iPod Nano during the first week of September two years ago. However, until the actual event comes to pass we're all just waiting for those new gadgets to finally satisfy our Apple fancy. |

With people anticipating the new line-up of iPods that Apple plans to release soon, rumors of small details here and there have been leaked concerning the new models. While everyone was having a big laugh over the fat iPod Nano that's been the butt of many jokes so far, some serious details regarding the new Nano were revealed, namely that it'll come in 8GB and 16GB NAND-based configurations. Also, a new iPod will also be revealed by Apple perhaps sometime next month. Rumors have been heard of what maybe a full touch screen iPod. Basically, it'll look like an iPhone without the "phone" part. It's also been reported that a new interface will be implemented for the upcoming series. It will make use of the CoverFlow application, which utilizes images of cover albums to browse through one's digital music library. This means, though, that the iPod will have to make use of an upgraded Mac OS X to handle it. This may not be such a bad thing actually, as other Apple gadgets already run on more a stable OS X system. If all (or any) this is true then this is a major overhaul to the whole iPod design. We'll have to leave any speculations up in the air for now until Apple actually unveils anything. Until then, we'll keep everyone posted for more details regarding the new gadgets. |

More rumors, sightings and speculations have come to bolster the new iPod's pre-release hype. Info has come in from two Apple sites about a new iPod that will not only be touch screen but will be run by Mac OS X as well.If the rumors are true, we should expect to see a sweet new addition to the Apple tree this holiday season. For drooling purposes, let's pretend all the rumors are true. What do we get? First, the new iPod will essentially be an iPhone without the phone, which is the most popular theory. It's been dubbed the iPod Touch for - great goobers how completely unexpected - its touch screen. The new iPod Touch (which will probably not be nicknamed iTouch) will have 480x320 resolution with a dedicated button for home navigation. Also, the iPod touch will be run by a watered down version of the Mac OS. This would be a good move by Apple since it would provide the link to bring all of their devices together. An Apple media event is expected to be held next month. Maybe it's all rumors, maybe it's all true. For now, it's just nice to imagine. Stay tuned for updates. |

Having to use your hands when browsing through music in your iPod can get really annoying (such a pain, really), so the tech savvy Japanese decided to develop a nifty gadget that allows control of your iPod by clenching your teeth. That's right, no need to squeeze your arms through people in packed trains to play the song you want. The folks from Osaka University came up with the ingenious idea. Through a head gear equipped with infrared sensors, the actions of your teeth can now be enough to command your iPod. Clenching your teeth for around a second will issue orders, removing worries of the gadget activating when you talk or eat. Laboratory head Fumio Miyazaki explained the idea, saying, "You are able to operate the devices without using your hands. You would be able to listen to music hands-free or operate your cellphone in a crowded train. Handicapped people would also be able to move wheelchairs." Or at least, that's what they're planning. This little gizmo is yet to see a commercial release, and some money and man hours are still getting invested into research that will allow hand-free controls of mobile phones, wheelchairs, and other electronic devices in the near future. |
