Wireless techPresenting the Hi-Gain Wireless-108G MIMO Router (or HWRGM1A as others call it). Either way its name is quite a mouthful, but maybe it's something you'll have to learn to remember - we feel that the device is so good it's name will be on everyone's lips soon!

This little wonder lets you access any site and download music, videos or any other media wirelessly, and fast too (at 108Mbps). Plus it has AMP Technology too - beat that.

But it's not just about speed: the HWRGM1A amplifies the MIMO wireless signals and makes sure they reach greater distances wherever it's used. And hey - it's got WPA encryption, too, to guarantee privacy.

The only downside's that it's designed solely for Macs. Another reason to consider switching, perhaps?

Hawking Technologies is now shipping the HWRGM1A in several regions. If despite its clunky name you find you've got the hots for one of these, check to see if your neighborhood electronics store stocks it.

The Memorex iFlipMemorex has revealed a new portable video player for fifth-generation iPods. Called the iFlip (not to be confused with the iPod case of the same name), the video player features an 8.4-inch LCD display, integrated speakers, a tilting iPod dock, and a lithium-ion battery. Users can watch their videos on the iFlip's built-in display or just use its speakers for music-only playback. Hmmm. If you close the iFlip, it looks kinda like an old external modem. Hah.

The iFlip (not to be confused with the computer table of the same name) has a native resolution of 480 x 234. Battery life clocks in at up to five hours of power. The unit also has S-video out, line out, and dual headphone jacks. While the iFlip (y'know what, i really wanna say "not to be confused with the portable video player of the same name" - couldn't their R&D/marketing guys have come up with a more unique name?) has its own on-screen menu system (for brightness, contrast, etc.), Memorex said that the user will still navigate music and video via the iPod. If this thing came with a remote, then I'd buy one in no time.

This baby will launch in mid-September, carrying a price tag of $200. The iFlip will be available in black or white, with an iFlip carrying case sold separately.

MAcMighty Mouse Diagram

Remember the Apple Mighty Mouse? If you don't, I'll refresh your memory. The Apple Mighty Mouse is what Mac boffins would like to call the next generation of  the Apple one-click mouse. The brand spanking new Mighty Mouse which we reported on yesterday features wireless Bluetooth connectivity up to 30 feet and laser tracking 20 times better than other laser tracking devices - slicker than your average optical mouse!

It also has a scroll ball with 360 degree turning capability - almost turning your mouse into a mini trackerball when in use. You may have noticed I said one-button mouse earlier. Well, the new Apple Might Mouse is a one-button mouse...with two press-able button functions. Touch-sensitive technology under the shell detects which part of the mouse you're clicking, so you can both left-click and right-click whilst not loosing the classic Mac one-click. If you prefer the one-click option, just change your preferences in your Mac OSX system preference pane!

The price? $69 with free shipping direct from the Mac store. Some people may think this is too expensive, but for what you get it sounds like a good deal to me! Can I get one for my Windows PC?

ipod_levisFirst came iPod belts, then iPod jackets, then even iPod ties splashed onto the scene. Now, NPD Group analyst Marshal Cohen expects the so-called wearable tech to become a billion dollar business within the next three years. As such, everyone's scrambling to get on the bandwagon.

Hot on the heels of the current hot iPod accessory, the Nike+ iPod shoe and sensor combo, comes the iPod Levis. These jeans are expected to drop this fall, and reports say that they will feature a joystick in the watch pocket. If nothing else, these jeans will no doubt bring a whole new meaning to the words "pocket pool".

I personally never bought into this whole iPod-capable clothing and accessories wave. The iPod belt? Sorry, I got a pair of jeans that have pockets. The iPod tie? It's just a tie with a pocket sewed onto the back fer cryin' out loud! I can do that myself IF I EVER WORE TIES!

Let's all pause and take a deep breath. Wooo saaaaaah.

Personal opinions aside though, this whole trend seems to be gaining momentum. The wearable tech phenomenon even made it to an episode of The Apprentice. Maybe in a few months we'll eventually see iPod underwear and iPod braces. And iPod wigs. Yay.

KuroDockToo much clutter in your desk? Got no more room for a bulky dock/speaker system? Well, you might wanna cast your eyes on this SwitchEasy creation, the KuroDock, which claims to be the smallest iPod nano dock ever to grace this planet. Well, we ain't sure about the smallest dock, but it measures 48 x 54 x 16mm and weighs 72 grams, so you be the judge if it is indeed the littlest of all them nano docks.

The KuroDock connects to your computer via USB 2.0, allowing you to transfer your photos and music at fast speeds. And from that you can see that this one has a standard mini USB connection instead of the Apple connector so you can use cables that run a lot cheaper than Apple's. Its lights are a pretty sight -- when active, the normally white LED indicator bar glows red, returning to white when it is safe to unplug your iPod.

It also features a stereo line out port so you can connect the KuroDock to your home stereo. In case you're wondering where the company got the product's name, "kuro" in Japanese means the color black, that is why it isn't surprising if this small and black contraption is as such. This one will go for roughly $30 and will only come in black for now, but apparently a white one is in the works.

Runners who have tried the Nike+ iPod Sports Kit were very impressed with the device. They were given accurate time, distance, calories burned, and average pace at the push of the iPod's center button. Best of all, they were able to access their tunes while they tailor their running experience for the ultimate workout. But of course, you'd have to switch to a Nike running shoes to use the kit. Well, not everyone prefers a Nike-branded running gear, so what does a guy (or girl) do when they're partial to say, Saucony Hurricanes? Well, podophile has a quick fix for that problem.

Using a strip of Velcro with adhesive backing, a needle, some thread, and sewing skills, you can modify your Nike+ iPod Sports Kit to work on non-Nike running shoes.

Just attach the "hard" side of the Velcro to the back of the transmitter. The "soft" side of the Velcro would then have to be attached to the tongue of the shoe. Sew the velcro and the tongue together to secure them. Once you're done showing off your sewing prowess, you can attach the transmitter to the shoe and lace it back up. The mod only takes up 10 minutes, so you can get back to running right away.

When podophile tested the newly-modified Nike+ iPod Sports Kit, early results indicate that having the transmitter under the laces does not affect the accuracy of the device.

fuel cellYou read that right; I did say fuel cell.

A lot of companies support fuel-cell technology because it seems a perfect solution for recharging batteries of devices like mobile phones, PDAs, laptops and mp3 players. We've only seen products like Toshiba's reported fuel cell prototype (which, by the way, isn't even portable.)

Now we have a company that's already started shipping portable fuel cells in several areas such as mainland China, Europe, Taiwan, US, and Japan. More Energy, a company in Lod, Israel and a subsidiary of Medis Technologies, has developed a disposable fuel cell that will recharge any device that needs recharging.

The creator of this portable fuel cell is Gennadi Finkelshtain who is also the general manager of More Energy. His invention is housed in a flexible plastic shell (compared to a deck of cards, this one's a bit larger). To use it, one has to squeeze the shell container which will resist lightly before you hear a click. You then plug the cable in and connect it to the device you will be recharging.

The fuel cell recharger pack from More Energy will be the first commercially-distributed device if the company meets its deadlines (in terms of mass production and shipping) come 2007.

In the recently concluded Tokyo Toy Show 2006, robots of all shapes and sizes dominated the show. But one tiny robot stood out. Sega Toys and Avex Entertainment showed off the portable music player accessory called the Mu-Bot. The Mu-Bot's hands serve as ear phones and the cord can be reeled inside the bot's tiny body. That's pretty much the only thing it does, but I have to admit, the tiny contraption is so cute!  It'll be available in different colors, too, which makes this robot all the more appealing.

Sega plans to release the Mu-Bot in December for 2,500 Yen ($21).

itripThe UK may soon legalize gadgets which convert MP3 audio output into an FM radio signal. These signals are then picked up by devices such as car radios. Though widely available (and popular), low-power transmitters, such as the iTrip, are banned in Europe as signals coming from the transmitter can interfere with legal stations.

The ban is based on the the Wireless Telegraphy Act of 1949, which forbids the use of radio equipment without a license. But with communications regulator Ofcom holding a public consultation over the issue, these low-power FM transmitters are expected to become legal to use without license by 2007.

Liberal Democrat culture, media and sport spokesman Don Foster welcomes the proposed legalization, "I am delighted Ofcom have ended this ludicrous ban, based on 1940s legislation... which threatened two years imprisonment to music lovers using iTrips."

Gadget magazine T3 deputy editor Jason Jenkins is also delighted with the proposition and said, "They are nifty little things and an easy way to listen to your iPod tunes in your car."
