The new iPod AV connection kit allows you to bring your music, photos, and video library into your living room. The kit includes everything you need to connect your iPod to your home stereo or television so you can share your favorite tunes, snapshots and movies with family and friends. Compatible with all iPod models with Dock connector.

Here is what you get for $99.00

iPod AV Cable

On one end, the iPod AV Cable connects to the headphone port of the iPod or the line-out port on the iPod Universal Dock. On the other end, it connects to the left/right stereo input jacks on a stereo, powered speakers or TV and the composite video input on a TV or monitor.

Universal Dock

The iPod Universal Dock serves as a convenient and elegant home base. It features an infrared port for the Apple Remote. And it works with all iPod models that have a dock connector through the use of interchangeable inserts called Dock Adapters.

Dock Adapters

These adapters snap into the Universal Dock to provide a snug fit for any iPod with a Dock connector. This package includes adapters for five iPods: iPod mini; iPod with click wheel (20GB, 40GB/U2 Special Edition); iPod with color display (20GB/30GB/U2 Special Edition, 40GB/60GB). New iPods already include adapters for that model, and other adapters are available separately.

Apple Remote

The Apple Remote combines with the Universal Dock to let you experience your iPod from across the room. When used with the iPod, the Apple Remote offers play/pause, volume control and forward/back buttons. (Note: Menu button is inactive when used to control iPod.)

USB Power Adapter

Use this convenient USB based adapter to charge your iPod. Simply plug the adapter into a wall outlet and connect to your iPod for recharging.

Dock connector to USB cable

This cable connects to the iPod USB Power Adapter to deliver a continuous charge.

iPod Accessories

Yeah, so Steve didn't introduce any new versions of the iPod, bummer, right? Well, it's not so bad, it actually gives us all time to sample from the many accessories that are becoming available for the popular line of Apple products.

According to the Washington Post, the focus of attention of many of the Macworld showgoers were the accessories. Third party companies seeking to get a piece of the billion-dollar pie that iPod accessories has become are scurrying to introduce new products to get the attention of consumers everywhere.

According to the Post:

On display were aisles of new accessories for the world's favorite digital music player, including devices for piping music and videos to home theater systems, and fabrics that let users control the iPod by pressing soft buttons sewn into jacket sleeves and backpack straps.

London-based Eleksen Ltd. showed off its touch-sensitive iPod controls now woven into jackets manufactured by O'Neill, Kenpo and Koyono. The user hooks the iPod up to the jacket and controls the play, pause and volume controls from the sleeve. The Kenpo jacket sells at Macy's for $275.

Apple aren't the only people announcing new products at MacWorld San Francisco. Levis are to launch a new line of denim jeans with iPod docks built-in to the pockets.

The Levis Redwire DLX Jeans incorporate a docking cradle attached to a red conductive 'ribbon' inside a specially iPod-shaped pocket, designed to make the iPod bulge virtually invisible. A small joystick is built-in to the watch pocket, with four-way controls allowing the wearer to play, pause, skip tracks forwards or backwards and adjust the volume. Once the iPod is disconnected, the jeans are machine washable.

A white leather patch and joystick, bluffed back pockets with hidden stitching, and minimalist buttons and rivets supposedly reflect the design of the iPod.

If Apple releasing computers based around Intel processors isn't strange enough for you, how about Sony showing off an iPod accessory at the CES? Sony's automotive division had this on display, although their representatives on the show stand were not able to give much information.

Named the Xplod, it's an iPod car adapter for Sony in-car entertainment units. As with similar adaptors form rival manufacturers, just plug your iPod in, stow it away, and control your music collection from the in-car hi-fi.

What's really strange is that Sony have produced this before producing similar units for their own range of Walkman or Network Walkman MP3 players, or even their old MiniDisc players.

Yet another update from Apple yesterday, iTunes has been updated to version 6.0.2 and can be downloaded via Software Update if you are using Mac OS X, or from Apple's website if you're a Windows PC user.

New features include a 'MiniStore' which sits at the base of your iTunes window suggesting tunes you might be interested in, the ability to convert and synchronise your own movies instead of just ones bought from the iTunes store, and enhancements to the AirTunes system which now allows you to broadcast your music wirelessly to three outputs simultaneously.

Thankfully, the MiniStore can be switched off.

To use any of the video features of iTunes 6.0.2, you will also need to update your copy of Quicktime to version 7.0.4 (also released yesterday), which is downloadable via either Mac OS X Software Update or Apple's website.

Half the technology blogs on the web are reporting right now on Steve Jobs' keynote address at MacWorld San Francisco. This is traditionally the day of each year when Apple launches its biggest new products.

First up, his Steveness has announced the iPod sales figures for the 2005 holiday season. In 2004, it was around 4.5 million units. In 2005, Apple sold 14 million iPods over the same holiday period. That's 100 iPods every minute.

The total number of iPods sold in 2004 was 32 million - in 2005 that rose to 42 million units.

Through the year of 2005, the iTunes Music Store has sold 850 million songs worldwide. They only started selling TV shows 90 days ago, and have already broken the eight million mark.

Griffin Technologies is taking advantage of Macworld to introduce a series of new products to meet your crazy accessory needs. Starting with TuneFlex, which allows you to charge up and listen to your Nano on the road, Griffin has introduced a number of other products.

According to Griffin:

TuneFlex's flexible steel neck adjusts to any angle, and its cradle grips your nano and rotates to stay upright and easily readable in any position. TuneFlex plugs into your car's 12 Volt accessory outlet (remember when they were called "cigarette lighters"?) to power and charge your iPod. The light at the base of TuneFlex's neck shows power status. TuneFlex's charging circuitry is even equipped with a fuse to keep your iPod safe and your mind at ease.

Be sure to check out the full line-up of products at Griffin's website.
