iPhone homebrew developer ZodTTD has spread his reach even further. After coming out with stuff like ogg4iphone, vlc4iphone, and various emulator projects, the developer is now working on porting the FPS classic Quake to the iPhone and iPod Touch.

ZodTTD's quake4iphone project has yet to be released, but the developer has said that the port's initial release will have similar controls to gpSPhone in portrait mode. It also looks like the initial release will include network play. The command line will also be available for use.

Accelerometer support is also being considered for inclusion in upcoming versions. For a closer look at how quake4iphone plays, here's a early video of the port running in demo mode:

ZodTTD noted that with firmware 1.2.0 coming up, he's busy organizing the code for his other homebrew projects to take the new firmware into account. Quake4iphone will also be released as 1.2.0-compatible. Keep checking back here for more updates.
