Unity Technologies announces iPhone support - Image 1Here's some big news for the guys planning to develop games for the iPhone.

Unity Technologies has recently sent word that they will now support game development for the Apple iPhone. A most interesting bit of news, given that Unity had previously stayed in the realm of console machines.

As Unity CEO David Helgason states, this move is hoped to signal their support for the gaming industry's ever-growing mobile environment:

With iPhone support, Unity is poised to become the single source for game developers who want to create best-of-breed, 3D-quality games that can be easily and quickly ported to all platforms, including consoles, devices, PC/Mac, and now, the iPhone.

The past few months have been very generous to the iPhone's homebrew, with Apple releasing an SDK for third-party developers just last March. With Unity's announcement, the iPhone just might be looking to get more gamer-loving this time around. Drop by again in case we run into any more updates.
