Back in 2006, Steve Jobs himself announced that we can expect a 3G iPhone to come out this year. It hasn't happened yet but then 2008 just started. While we haven't heard anything much since then, analysts from UBS might have.

According to them, 3G iPhones will be released sometime mid-year. They also believe that the current EDGE iPhones are being ramped down earlier than expected to free up inventories. They also believe that the new iPhone will be powered by the Infineon Chip.

As of now, we'll scratch these up as rumors and speculations, seeing as this isn't a consensus view among the analysts themselves. Well, it might be true, who knows. At the least we're glad that someone hasn't forgotten about the idea.
