ToneShop build 9: Now converting ring tones to the iPhone - Image 1Here's some good news for the mobile phone owners with an ear for more personalized ring tones.

We're letting you know about the release of ToneShop, a Windows-based application that allows you to load and convert your tunes into the more common ring tone file formats out there.

ToneShop build 9 in particular is now capable of creating .m4r (AAC) files, meaning that your custom tones can also be loaded into iTunes, and into Apple iPhone. Here's a lowdown of the other file types ToneShop can currently churn out:
  • MP3
  • AAC (M4A)
  • WAV (uncompressed PCM and ADPCM)
  • AMR-NB
  • AMR-WB (Nokia TrueTones)
  • MMF (Yamaha SMAF)
ToneShop Build 9 is available for download via the source link provided here. Keep an eye out in case we pick up news of any further updates, or if any more file formats are added to its compatibility range.
