So, after an entire year of waiting, speculating, theorizing, and guessing, Apple then unveils the much-awaited iPhone (though they might want to consider a name change soon, with Cisco breathing down their necks. iCell doesn't sound so bad...).

So with that entire year in mind, Gizmodo has compiled a gallery which showcases the number of iPhone renditions which were done by people who hoped that the then-mysterious product would look the way that they envisioned it. After all, sparks went flying when we first saw it on the back of a magazine in March 2006, and then the deluge started.

So how close was everyone's guess to the actual product? See for yourself.

 » I Phone

The I phone or whatever it's going to be called looks a lot like a psp too me. Either way, $500-$600 is a lot of cash for a phone. Think I'd rather cop a ps3, either way have fun with the new technology when it's available ballers.

I've had no interest in this phone at all. I know there are many that have been following this. But honestly, it's just a phone. With the Apple name on it.
And 400 bucks is just to much to pay for it.

@andreo: thats 500 and 600 bucks. lol. 400 is kinda normal for a new phone on the market. the Razr V3i cost 450 when it first came out. but droped to 300 within a month. where-as the iphone will stay above 500 for at least 6 months+

and design wise, it looks amazing. it's a great device. just not worth 600.

 » ive seen this before

except the apple logo.
since this news bomb the geek world i thought of alternates.
there are plenty. htc have some that can turn this pod down but i guess popularity shall prevail.
i still liked the sony UX series over this phone.
calls on w950i and portable entertainment on sony UX. it costs more but a lot better and now available.
a sony fanboy here! aint it obvious?

 » Expensive..

But damned cool...mainly I love the entire face being buttonless and a touch screen, as well as the multiple sensors and stuff. If you think about it, if it does video well anyways, this is almost worth it, as it replaces your mp3 player, digicam, portable media player and cell phone....which for me is over $900 worth of stuff (psp + DSC H2 + *****ty 200 phone)

But the phone is my GF's and I never use it, so I would never get an iphone :P
