No one can doubt the success and popularity of the iPhone. It's a sensation that took this generation by storm. However, such a popular gadget is bound to have its share of problems when dealing with the underground market for the product.

Currently, the iPhone is only available in certain territories, so some people take it upon themselves to "bring" the iPhone to territories that can't enjoy the product otherwise. Some simply buy mo in other countries for their friends back home. Some blatantly resort to duping Apple Stores to buy iPhones en masse.

One distributor believes that his supplier "receives" his stock of iPhones straight from the factory. But what really grabbed his attention is that the supplier also got his hands on the schematics of the original iPhone, including repair instructions for the device.

The distributor believes that the supplier either got it from an Apple employee or simply stole the documents. The schematics were probably acquired to sell to would-be iPhone unlockers, so that buyers would find the device more appealing if it wasn't locked on to the AT&T service provider.

There have been a lot of issues with people trying to unlock the iPhone. Some have even bricked their units trying. However, with more easier ways to unlock the iPhone at the mass consumer's reach, perhaps Apple would consider releasing an open-line unit when the iPhone gets a new incarnation.
