Once in a while, we'll hear stories of cats and dogs playing with each other. Once in a while we get to see Microsoft dishing out updates for Apple's Mac.

To fix critical bugs and to ensure performance security and stability, Microsoft released Update 12.0.1 of Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac. Covered are the following applications:

• Office 2008
  
• Office 2008 Home and Student Edition
• Office 2008 Special Media Edition
  
• Word 2008
• Excel 2008
• PowerPoint 2008
• Entourage 2008

Fixes were added for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard soft spots where a malicious code can obliterate a computer's memory. Stability issues were also addressed to avoid unexpected exits and abrupt non-responses.

Bear in mind that before you install the Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac 12.0.1 Update, the computer should be running Mac OS X 10.4.9 (Tiger) or a more recent version of the Mac OS X operating system.
