Now here's something that may interest gamers who own an iPod: Square Enix just released a music-themed roleplaying game for the iPod nano with video, iPod classic and the fifth generation iPod: Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes. Song Summoner lets players take the role of Ziggy, a Song Summoner who can create and call forth Tune Troopers (soldiers created out of the songs in the player's iPod). Tune Troopers can be levelled up either in the conventional way (by winning battles) or by listening to the songs that spawned them. Cool? Yes. Definitely. Make sure that you use your favorite music - those that you loop again and again - to create Tune Troopers. Song Summoner sports a strategy RPG gaming system, and the click wheel controls feel intuitive: playing the game and deciding on your actions in each battles seem to be as easy as selecting music in the iPod. Players will be delighted to find out that the game doesn't only have the usual SRPG elements present in the game's battle system; players can also take advantage of devices found in the battle ground to their advantage. Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes is available now on iTunes for around US$ 8, or GBP 3.99 (4.99 Euros). |
