SpringDial mineshaftgap - Image 1If you're not really satisfied with how your Apple iPhone's speed dial works, then you may want to try homebrew developer mineshaftgap's SpringDial application. Basically, SpringDial is a homebrew application that puts speed dials of all your phone book contacts on the SpringBoard of your iPhone (provided its Jailbroken, of course).

The application may sound a bit too simple at first, but once you realize the advantages this application presents (like that fact that Safari doesn't have to load and that the confirmation of the call isn't needed), you'll fully appreciate SpringDial. Here's the Features Summary to help you get to know this application even more:
  • Speed dials now can still function if you uninstall SpringDial. This is the default behavior, but you can disable this by tapping the Spring Mode button.
  • In order to help solve bugs with the many different jailbreak environments users can now report bugs including a debug log, from SpringDial itself. Bug reports and logs are only submitted with the user's authorization and no personal information is included.
  • Show the image of the contact so you can dial by image
  • The created SpringDial apps are quite small since they only use space for the plist and contact image (shrunk to 60x60).
  • SpringDial vs Phone->Favorites
    • Less clicks then Phone->Recents->Contact
    • Has an image of the contact
    • Limited only by the number of apps you can display
  • SpringDial vs WebClip tel://
    • Image is added automatically if available
    • Don't have to wait for Safari to load - Don't have to confirm to place the call
If you're interested in using this application on your iPhone, then better make sure your iPhone has enough battery juice; you'll need to download the installer directly to your iPhone.
For installation instructions, don't hesitate to drop by mineshaftgap's page through the Via link. Enjoy!
