Don't count on being able to make any phallic creatures in this game. If you're hooked to Spore on your computer, you might want to get yourself a copy of Spore Origins, a spin-off of the game for iPods, iPhones, and mobile phone platforms.

The game is available for US$ 4.99 for the Classic iPod and the iPod Nano, earlier than expected. Other versions - for the DS, iPod Touch, and iPhone - is expected to be released on September 7.

Spore Origins is only a companion game, mind you, so don't expect the expansive library featured in the original game. In Spore Origins, you play a spore in its early stages of evolution. You have to eat smaller creatures while avoiding ones that can devour you. It's a spore-eat-spore world.
