OS X Time Machine - Image 1Apple is already basking in the success of OS X Leopard's launch, but it's not all roses for those who upgraded to the latest version of Mac OS X. A poster from Gizmodo encountered a rather pesky problem while in the process of trying to create a back up with the Time Machine application, but managed to come up with an easy solution.

He was trying to format the disk for backup use, but the disk was still in FAT32 system - the file format for Windows PC - even after formatting, rendering it useless for OS X Leopard. After making a few calls, he was able to make out a solution, all of which are thoroughly outlined and explained in case you encounter the same kind of problem.

Check out how to fix the disk formatting problem in the Read link!

Apple iPhone - Image 1To you lucky iPhone owners, Apple is now testing for the funky mobile's v1.1.1 Update. Included in the update are Bluetooth, Mail, and Safari applications. Heading on over to the official Apple info site, you will see that they have laid out for you the supposed impact of the firmware on the said applications.

Now, as for the installation, take note that this is only available through iTunes so you might wanna head on over there ASAP. Also, it was explicitly mentioned that the update will not appear in your unit's Software Update application, or in the Apple Downloads site.

Anyway, to learn more information about the iPhone's Firmware 1.1.1, we suggest you go straight to their site, which we have linked to via our Read link below.

Open Office - Image 1Come September next year, the Apple scene may be seeing the appearance of an OpenOffice office suite that will work natively with Mac OS X. That is, this new build won't require you to install the Unix windowing software called X11, which has been the source of headaches among Mac users.

This information we're picking is based on a presentation by Eric Bachard, who also noted that September 2008 may see OpenOffice v3.0 getting released. As it stands, OpenOffice most recent build is version 2.3.0. Eric is among the the lead developers of the Mac "Aqua" (the name for the MAC OS X GUI) port of OpenOffice.

At the moment, the most hassle-free OpenOffice port we've picked up is Planamesa Software's NeoOffice. This particular build reportedly works more seamlessly with Aqua since it doesn't require the X11 environment , although at the cost of higher memory usage. The latest build for NeoOffice at this point is v2.2.1, and is based on OpenOffice v2.2.1.
