Here is a small update about what's been going on around here at QJ.NET today that will hopefully enhance your experience while you're here. The most obvious added feature is our new Gallery View for thumbnailed images and screenshots. Its pretty basic and bare-bones at the moment, but before long it'll look a little bit nicer and complement the style of the rest of the site. There's nothing you have to do, just click on any thumbnailed image like you normally would and a new window will open up showing you all the images from that post - easy as pie! At the moment, this is only available for images posted from this point on.
Next up is a new feature that gives our faithful readers the chance to let other people know about any of the cool articles or breaking news you see here on QJ.NET! At the bottom of each individual article view you'll find a box containing links to all your favorite Social Bookmarking sites on the web! Deli.cio.us, Reddit, Spurl and many more! So if you see something you think other folks should know about, be sure to get the word out! (Word to the wise: many QJ blogs are currently banned from Digg so you may not be able to Digg It... it's long, scandalous story, but I'll save that for another post...)
And finally, a reminder about a feature that debuted a few weeks ago: Trackbacks! There's been a bit of confusion, so I thought I'd take a moment and clear everything up. The Trackback feature is a way for us to help bring attention to your own site, blog, or favorite hangout space or forum. Its a link exchange program, so if you post something elsewhere related to what we covered in a QJ article, submit a trackback! In order for trackbacks to be approved, the submitted page has to contain a link back to that particular QJ article. Entering a Trackback is easy, just fill out the form at the bottom of an article and spread the word, then we'll spread yours!
As always, we're dying to know what you think about the newest features here at QJ.NET - your feedback is how we continue to improve your experience while you're here! And of course, if you like these new additions, the easiest way to let us know is to Jump it Up! |

Some of our more observant readers may have noticed a few new changes here at QJ.NET today! We've heard your suggestions and have implemented a new feature that should make everyone happy - Registered and Unregistered users alike! At the top of each article's comment list you will find and option to either "Hide" or "Show" comments made by Unregistered users. This will allow everyone to share their opinion and interact with the QJ.NET Community, but also enables the option to not view Anonymous Comments if you personally feel they aren't worth reading - the choice is up to you!
Speaking of the QJ.NET Community, we are also unveiling a new feature that will help connect QJ.NET and our readers with the rest of the internet, as well as your own personal webpages and blogs! The Trackback feature is your chance to let other users know where to find sites and content that are referencing the news and articles you read here at QJ.NET. You will find these "trackbacks" at the end of the comment list for each article. So how does it work? Simply submit a related URL that contains a link back to QJ.NET, enter your name and a short description and your link will be processed and added to the article! It's that easy!
But the new stuff doesn't stop there! As a courtesy to all of you RSS users out there, we've added a page that lists all of the different subjects and categories covered here at QJ.NET, so if you're interested in specific content while you're on the go, make sure to check out our RSS Feeds by Category section! As always, we are interested to hear your opinion on these new features, as well as any other changes or additions you'd like to see here at QJ.NET! Be sure to leave us a comment and let us know what you think. Of course, the easiest way to let us know you like these new features is to Jump it Up! To ensure that the majority of our readers are aware of these new features, this post will remain at the top of the news list for part of the day. Look below for the latest news and updates! |

As some of you may have noticed, we've unveiled a few new features here at QJ.NET today! For the less observant amongst you, I'll give you a little rundown!First up, we have expanded the "Jump it Up" feature a bit to include the "Jump Filter". At the top of each of the news pages, you'll see a drop down menu. You can use this to determine what news is displayed and what isn't, depending on how many Jumps that article has. If you're only interested in seeing news and articles that are popular with other readers, than this feature is for you. You will still be able to view "hidden" articles if you want by clicking on the "Show" bar at the right side of a hidden article's title. In case you're having a hard time finding the Jump Filter, this is what you should be looking for:
The other new feature for QJ.NET is the new Tag System. Starting today, Tags will be added to the text of articles for key words and interesting phrases, as well as at the top of each article. By clicking on a Tag, you will be whisked away to a page showing every article that has that tag. So if you're reading an article about the Xbox 360 and "Microsoft" is mentioned, you can just click on the link and you'll be presented with every article from any QJ.NET blog that has mentioned Microsoft. This will undoubtedly delight information buffs who just can't stop clicking their way through the internet to learn about anything that piques their interest! As time goes on, this feature will become more and more extensive as we build up our Tag library with every new article that gets posted! Feel free to leave some feedback in the comments about these new features, or you can Contact Us with your feedback on any problems you may be encountering or suggestions you might have to make QJ.NET the best it can be! And as always, the easiest way to let us know you like what we're doing is to Jump it Up! |

The QJ.Net team has been polling the public to find the features you want to see. We have asked the questions, and we have read your answers. It is with this in mind that we are proud to announce our newest feature, the top 15 most popular articles from our comprehensive news coverage. As you have probably noticed, we recently implemented the "Jump It Up" feature to all of the QJ.Net sites, allowing you to vote for the articles you like. We are now taking this a step further and showing you the news you have voted for at the top of each of our sites. This new feature will, in effect, keep the most popular articles posted in the last 24 hours at the top of each site for easy access. Every site will have its own list, reflecting the most "Jumped" articles from that specific site. As I'm sure many of you have noticed by now, we have a new addition to the QJ.NET Blogs - the "Jump it Up" box! This allows our readers to "vote" on an article if they enjoy reading it! "But why?" you might ask. The answer is simple! By voting for articles you like, it gives us (and our bloggers) a clear indication of what kind of news our readers (that means YOU!) want to see posted on our blogs. So if you like what you see, just "Jump it up!" But the fun doesn't stop there! In the next few weeks, this feature will be expanded upon giving our members the ability to sort the news depending on how much it's been "jumped," as well as having an impact on where on the page the news is displayed on our "QJ.NET Blog of Blogs" page. This is your chance to determine what you see and what we post! As an added benefit to our logged in members, they count for TWO votes whereas those of you who aren't logged in only count for one. To register at QJ.NET, simply fill out the New User Registration form, found in the Log In box to the right of the screen. I hope everyone enjoys this new addition and makes the most of it! If you like the "Jump it Up" feature, the easiest way to tell us is to click "Jump it Up" on this article! As with any new feature, there are bound to be the various bugs and browser incompatibility issues, so if you are having any sort of trouble be sure to Contact Us about it so we can fix it as soon as possible! (To ensure that the majority of our readers get the lowdown on the "Jump it Up" feature, this post will stay at the top of the news list for part of the day. Look below for the latest news!) |

Hey guys, we went live with a new build of our CMS today which now
allows users to log in to the QJ.NET blogs, and also includes some other pretty cool features. In the interest of space,
I'll just leave this small blurb as to not take up precious real estate on
the blog, and you can read about the new site features at the "Full

As you may have noticed, the iPod blog is now an Apple blog. We will still report on all iPod news, but we will also be reporting on all the Apple news out there as well. Also, the QJ.net blogs are getting a major facelift! We are implementing new site layouts (like this one) which make our blogs much easier to read, include a slew of new features, and in our opinion, look a hell of a lot better than our old layouts did!We have been developing a custom CMS (Content Management System) back end for many months now, and we are proud to say that it is finally complete! We can add as many features to this new CMS as we want, so we are no longer restricted by Blogger's limited featureset. So expect to see many new site features added in the coming weeks -- such as a completely revamped comments system, User Favorite Articles, Top News Hounds, multi-language support, and much more -- to make the QJ.net blogs much more robust. Please check out all the current new features by looking at the two sidebars on the right-hand side of the blog. Along with the new CMS we decided it was time for all our blogs to ditch our old layouts and designs and upgrade to something better. There are still some small bugs, but we'll be polishing them out ASAP (still have to re-categorize all the articles!). Additionally, we are proud to announce that the Quick Journal "blog of blogs" is now online. It is a blog of the best articles and the biggest news from all of our blogs -- in one location. Check it out at www.qj.net. We could have never done this without you guys coming to view the site, and we appreciate you! Keep coming back to support us. Expect bigger and better things from us! Additionally, if you are interested in hiring on as a paid blogger for QJ.NET on the Nintendo Apple blog (or on any other blog), head over and apply at http://www.qj.net/apply. We are looking for experienced writers and bloggers who can bring a unique, knowledgeable, insightful, and witty writing style. |
