Is it real, or is it just a typo? Appletell discovers in Apple's official website a workshop offered to new iPhone users. However, we haven't heard of any official iPhone release in Canada. Considering that the iPhone's launch in UK will be on November 9, it could be a presumptuous mistake on someone's part.Need to know more? Read on to get juicier details on this little eye-opener - error or not. |

Rumors have been going around recently after website Switch to a Mac speculated
that new Apple MacBook and MacBook Pro models should be revealed soon.
Some say there's nothing more to it than old tricks of predicting Apple
releases, while others believe the idea is feasible.According to observations, Apple updated the MacBook twice since its May 16, 2006 release with an average of 182 days interval between revisions, so expecting a new Macbook around November 6 would sound like a good bet. If that date is right on the money, the average will remain at 182 days. However, predictions for a new MacBook Pro also factor in. Apple updated the MacBook Pro for three times since its June 10, 2006 release with 170 days in-between, making November 13 the ideal date. In case this actually happens, the MacBook is expected to get a new model about three weeks earlier. To further support the wild guess for revised MacBook models, Switch to a Mac added: Apple's new Leopard operating system
has revealed drivers for the Intel GMA X3100 integrated graphics chip,
a successor to the Intel GMA 950 which is used in current MacBooks.
This finding would imply that the next MacBook revision may be upgraded
to the Santa Rosa chipset and that a MacBook revision is imminent. |

UBS Investment Research Analyst Ben Reitzes has predicted that Apple will be announcing more international iPhone carriers in the next few months and hinted at the possibility of a new iPhone model by March next year. It's no secret that Apple has been pushing for more iPhone carriers in the international scene. So far the company has already gotten AT&T (Cingular) for the U.S. distribution of the iPhone, T-Mobile for their Germany release, and recently mobile carrier Orange for France. What Reitzes failed to mention though is whether or not Apple will still continue to give exclusive rights to a selected carrier per region or if they plan on allowing multiple carriers in the same region to carry the unit. Reitzes also gave word that their contacts in the supply chain said that a new iPhone model will probably be released by March 2008. So far, details about this supposed launch are rather sketchy and there's been no indication if it will be a new kind of iPhone or a modification on the existing iPhone models. We'll have to wait until Apple makes an official announcement regarding both issues before we can confirm any of Reitzes predictions. Investors might want to keep a close eye on this because any move by Apple to strengthen their mobile leg of the business may cause the company's stock to rise. |

The Gold Master retail version of Apple's Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard was reported to have undergone a visual makeover for the OS X dock, an often-unused 3D shelf even at Apple. Perhaps Apple's been listening, or they simply didn't like the waste of viewscreen real-estate, so they've readopted a simplistic 2D shelf appearance for Mac OS X Leopard build 9A581.This news came from an update via developer seeds for Build 9A581, and the new dock sports a 2D facelift of common OS GUI docks. There was no feedback on additional visual effects for the dock, but as long as it's no longer the older 3D dock that caused partial peripheral distractions. What was confirmed, however, is that the dock can keep the same visual style even when docked at the bottom of the screen. October 26 still remains as Apple's release date for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard in North America, and this probably would be one of some last-minute updates to 10.5 as the days crawl slowly to Leopard's lift off. More on these developments as we come across them. |

Even with the release date of the new Mac OS X Leopard 10.5 already finalized, rumors still abound surrounding this highly anticipated operating system. TheStreet.com's informer Scott Moritz revealed a juicy little tidbit about Apple releasing a little added bonus alongside the new operating system - a brand new 13-inch laptop installed with the Leopard. According to Moritz, the aluminum-clad laptop will have an ultra-portable, sleek new design similar to the MacBook Pro and will have Leopard built-in into it. If this is true then Apple may have the perfect package of hardware to go along with the much awaited software everyone has been talking about lately. Considering the hefty requirements and the numerous features the new OS X will be sporting, we're crossing our fingers that this new laptop will solve any hardware trouble the new operating system might have. In the meantime, you can access the video with the "insider information" through the Read link below. |

Reports have it that Apple has already finalized all of the features for its next operating system Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. We also got word that its current OS, Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, has just received its final maintenance and security updates. This is consistent to earlier reports that Leopard has finally reached the release candidate stage. Furthermore, AppleInsider points out that Apple has started giving out hand-outs and training materials to its staff to prepare for the Leopard launch. According to speculations, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard will be available in the week of October 22 with October 26 targeted as the official launch. Meanwhile, the above mentioned updates come in two packages - build 8S161 for Power PC Macs and build 8S2161 for Intel Macs. These two focused primarily on Dashboard with fixes provided on the software's underlying Webkit foundation and number-oriented widgets. Apple, however, keeps mum on the matter. The only official things dished out by the company are the seeds update for Leopard named 9A557/9A559 designed to fix wireless networking and RAW image viewing. |

iPod Touch users who've been wondering why the iPhone can add and edit calendar events and the iPod Touch can't shouldn't worry anymore: a future update would soon resolve that problem, because Apple CEO Steve Jobs supposedly said so. David J. Early brought up fine arguments about sorely missed iPod features in an email message sent to Apple's wonder guy, and received a reply that went: Nothing can be done about the games. The new iPod touch is a completely different animal inside than the old iPods and the games just don't translate. The inability to edit or add calendar events is a bug that will be fixed in a future software update. With that said, let's not get too hasty and wait for the next software update notice to pop up from your iTunes suite, because some speculate that the fix may be a week away. The email reply did not address points raised on the iPod disk mode, image syncing, and the storage of notes, however. |

It's been quite a while since we last heard about the Apple TV, but now we're hearing the growing rumble of beautiful rumors regarding the availability of downloadable HD content for the Apple TV. And we say that it's about time. The Apple TV does have 720p HD playback, after all, why not take advantage of the feature with actual HD content?Even more promising are the rumors of new hard drive sizes and even optical drives in store for the Apple TV: word is out that the Apple TV line of products will be made more affordable, with a starting price of US$ 249 for an Apple TV with a 60 or 80GB hard drive. TVs with larger HD sizes (with sizes ranging from 120 GB to 250GB) were rumored to make an appearance as well, with pricetags worth US$ 299 to US$ 399 attached. As for optical drives, there's no specific details available for this rumor, not even which format it will support. But an Apple TV with more features and more format options is indeed a better Apple TV, so we just have to cross our fingers for now and hope for more specific updates, and wish that they will come true. |

Apple's OS X Leopard appears to be in the release candidate stage, based on a recent rumor that's in circulation. In software-speak, the release candidate stage happens right after an app's Beta stage, and comes just before the application goes gold. This means that if there are no major bugs spotted on Leopard, we could be looking at a retail release coming out (or getting announced) soon.As blogger Glen noted during our previous report, Leopard contained two issues: The first was an upgrade issue from Tiger to Leopard on Power PC system, while the second was an incompatibility issue with HP printers. These are all the details we've got for the moment - stick around in case we hear Apple's take on this bit of speculation. |

Here's another Apple for gravity to toy with. If your love for Apple's industry-spurring MessagePad in the past decade or in 2004's D: All Things Digital exposition, then this bit of news might rekindle that flame. CEO and creative spark Steve Jobs once hinted at that same event how they were proud of an unreleased product he simply named "an Apple PDA." Newton MessagePad. If there's anything new to develop in the days that the Apple iPhone is enjoying much success in Western hemisphere, then it would be Apple's PDA with multi-touch technology. AppleInsider reported that they were clued in about the PDA project inside Apple, and it was said that it experienced a few halts due to development focus on the iPhone. But now that the iPhone's out and successors are already in development, engineers have returned to the PDA development process, or that's what is believed. Sharing similarities with the iPod Touch and iPhone, the new PDA is said to have an integrated version of Mac OS X Leopard. Other claimed features include a 720 x 480 liquid crystal display, covering almost the entire surface of an ultra-thin "slate" about 50% larger than the iPhone. And pushing further into multi-touch technology, the PDA would promote drag-and-drop and cope-and-paste mechanics, to spur the features' adoption. |
