Over the past few days, a screenshot of the alleged MacBook Air (pictured on the right) has been circulating on the internet. However, the website ValleyWag has given word that the picture is a hoax.

There are two problems with the screenshot: the offered storage devices for the unit and its alleged support for the Apple Cinema display.

A major feature of the MacBook Air is that it doesn't have any moving parts for its storage device. To accomplish this, Apple has allegedly decided to use flash memory hard drives for the system. If you look at the screenshot, you will find that the hard drive comes in both 60 and 80 GB sizes. That can't be true since the available models of the flash drives are 32, 64, and 128 GB.

The second problem with the screenshot is its alleged support for both the 30' and 40' Apple Cinema Displays. Unfortunately, both of these units need a pretty powerful graphics card. Something that would not only be big but produce a lot of heat as well. Definitely not a component you would stick into a small notebook.

That said, we're going to have to wait and see if the rumored MacBook Air will indeed be hitting the market soon.
