It was previously noted that the Mac's Quickbooks software included a technical issue where it ended up deleting files from the user's hard drive. This potentially disastrous bug was still apparent even with the new patch implemented by Intuit Inc., which was said to have fixed the problem already.

This usually occurred to all QuickBooks 2006 users who ended up within range of a wireless hotspot according to Ian Vacin, offering leader for Intuit's Mac finance line. Users should be careful using the accounting program despite the released patch.

Three companies have already fallen victim to the "data eating" bug caused by the QuickBooks software. All three businesses have filed a lawsuit against Intuit Inc. and are asking for both compensatory and punitive damages to be paid by the company.

Intuit has put up a temporary solution by suggesting that users purchase a copy of the US$ 99 Data Rescue II software to save their lost data. The company mentioned that it will be reimbursing anyone who has bought the software and has been affected by the bug.

While this may solve some of the immediate problems for Mac users who are still using QuickBooks for their accounting needs, it still doesn't change fact that a lot of people who are unhappy with the lack of a more permanent solution. Hopefully, Intuit can rectify this soon by releasing an actual patch which will finally fix the bug.
