Quake 3 for Apple's iPod Touch - Image 1

If you were thrilled with the rumor video we've shown you where Quake 3 is being played on the iPod touch, then here's something that will drum up that excitement further: it may not be a rumor at all.

HermitWorks, founded by former BioWare game designers Cameron and Marcia Tofer, has come out with more details for the vid we've all seen. First off, the iPod touch port is real. HermitWorks has really been investing work on the award-winning Quake 3 engine to make things possible for the iPod touch.

Now, if you thought the motion-detecting iPod touch controls were already awesome, we may have seen nothing yet. HermitWorks is still disappointed with the controls so far. Imagine the possibilities.

As an independent video games developer, HermitWorks used id Software's Quake 3 as a proof of concept of sorts. They wanted to test the iPod touch's viability as a multiplayer gaming device. If all's well, they will not be releasing Quake 3, rather, their own game, Space Trader.

This is another interesting gaming possibility shaping up in front of us. So stay tuned here at QJ.NET for the latest updates. You may also want to test a demo of HermitWorks' Space Trader which available at playspacetrader.com for the PC and Mac.
