AppleWith the Apple Paris Expo set to kick off in two weeks' time, the rumor mills lost no time drumming out speculations on what's in store with the Cupertino fruit company. And with an email to the online Your Mac World radio show announcing a "special press event" on September 12, Apple's certainly set the mill running on overdrive (Many observers note that Apple usually launches its new products through special media events scheduled - when else? - in September and/or October).
  • We had reports that the Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros are coming out in September, but so far nothing else specific has emerged to complete this picture.
  • How about movies through iTunes? Businessweek reports that Apple will announce - sometime in September! - the latest addition to the iTunes lineup's debut. $14.99 for new releases, and $9.99 for older movies. And we had that report of Apple and Lions Gate teaming up for movie offers.
  • The possibility of a new generation of iPod Nanos? Okay, this one wasn't in the source for this article, but we reported a couple of weeks ago on the iPod Nano's "end-of-life" notice on September 16, and the rumors that the next generation of the Nano could be launched in the latter half of September. Just to keep these things in mind.
  • We do, however, have a couple of specifics we can report on. Apple's going to be hosting a September 12 event in San Francisco and streamed to London, and which it seems is separate from the Apple Expo in Paris (no word on whether they will stream this to Paris, too, so we're hedging on our calls). Maybe this was the "special event" the email to Your Mac World was referring to.
  • And, while Steve Jobs will be a no-show in the Expo, there will be a Keynote in San Francisco - and thanks to the streaming relay, the guys in London will see it, too. Would Jobs be doing this Keynote instead of attending the Paris Expo? Or is it going to be someone else in the Apple hierarchy?
So apparently all the Apple action won't be confined to Paris alone. We wonder why this San Francisco gig, and what it holds for the coming months ahead. We wonder...

 » Bootcamp beta
