The figurative gauntlet was thrown at Apple's recent Let's Rock event in San Francisco. According to Steve Jobs, the iPod Touch is "the best portable device for playing games". That's a grand statement right there, but then again, if you're selling something you wouldn't be touting it as the second-, third-, or whatever-best gaming device, now would you? |

Is iTunes killing full album sales? That's what a few recording artists think so, as although online music sales continue to rise, overall album sales as well as CD sales in general have steadily dwindled. They're pointing to the now-popular method of freely choosing what particular songs to buy from an album as the reason. |

The iPhone's hardware is equivalent to the Sega Dreamcast, and almost at par with the PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox. It's more powerful than the PSP and Nintendo DS. Combined. Not my words. These claims come from id Software's John Carmack. More in the full article. |

Getting yourself a MacBook for less than a thousand bucks definitely sounds like the sweetest deal you'll ever score on an Apple product. Analysts predicted that this new price point may soon become a reality due to the projected marketing strategy which will be implemented by the Cupertino-based company. Find out more about this price slashing revelation in our full article after the jump. |

A lot of talk has been going on about how "casual gaming" will be the way video games will be opened up to the masses. Well, the Europe senior marketing director of Nintendo has something to say about that. Specifically, the term "casual gaming." Find out what he had to say in the full article. |

There's a very real possibility that Apple's "exciting enterprising" gig could turn great for developers on the iPhone, but that really depends on what kind of software they're offering to users. Rubicon, a consulting firm that has released a study on the iPhone earlier this week, has determined that a good share of iPhone users were willing to install a new application, though that has been done already through unofficial means. More details at the full story. |

While some may be impressed at the fact that games such as Spore (also available on PC, Nintendo DS, Wii, Mac, and Mobile) will be coming out on the iPhone, others such as Wedbush Morgan Analyst Michael Pachter have questioned the viability of the phone as a gaming platform. To find out more, check out the full article. |

Okay, so this is definitely not new. Since it was introduced years ago, Spore (PC, Nintendo Wii, DS, Mac, and Mobile) has often been thought to be one of the games to bring new blood to the saturated PC gaming market by way of being the segment's best seller once it's released. But Electronic Arts just wants its investors to know that the company's feeling optimistic about the sim-strategy title, and Michael Pachter predicts more or less of the same. |

In case you haven't heard, Sonic the Hedgehog has come to your iPod (well, if you own an iPod that is). Will we see more video games hit the iPod family in the future? It's likely. Sega has praised the Apple product as a "flawless" device for developers to sell their games in. More details in the full article. |

Being young to the world of homebrew development, the Apple community would have its own share of hiccups. The latest and probably most prominent of those would have come right after Apple released the Apple Software 1.1.3, otherwise referred to as Apple's firmware version 1.1.3. Why? Because with 1.1.3 came - count 'em - three separate jailbreak releases that differ significantly from one another. More on the problem at the full story. |
