The club for Apple I owners was founded in 1977. Another great piece of heritage in the Apple Computer archives. It was small, home-brew computer clubs like this that hatched the Apple Computer in the first place. Great things from great geeks. Alas, I'll have to take a step back and call myself a member of the Apple II club. Still got a IIe in the basement. Ah, those were some good times. Check out some of the heritage from the Apple I club members in the link below. |

If you're feeling left out with all the XP on Mac hubbub because you don't yet have an Intel Macintosh computer, don't. Rejoice G3/G4-based mac fans, for there is Q. Q is a Cocoa based emulator that allows you to run any current Windows flavor, Linux, or anything else you want to try on your current OS X 10.3 or 10.4 machine. With Q, you can easily move files between your OS X system and whichever OS you're running under emulation. According to the Q website, you can easily start and stop OS instances for whatever needs you may have. Q is based off the open source Qemu project, and uses OS X technologies such as openGL and coreaudio to speed up the experience. I'm a little cautious about the speed at which Q can perform these hefty tasks. But I think they may have more of a winner on their hands if they can make a Universal version, allowing the x86 architecture to do the heavy-lifting, and cut the emulation piece down to nearly nothing. Got experience with Q? Let us know about it. |
