While this is off topic, we have an article up on our new Gadgets blog that is really stinkin' cool. A friend of QJ.NET invited us to help him mount twelve 30-inch Dell flatscreen monitors to his wall, and it was a blast. Above you can see an image of the finished product, and man is it sweet! Powered by 6 top-of-the-line video cards, and three 1000 watt power supplies, this thing is a beast. Click on the Read link below for the full article and step-by-step.

EDIT: Here is a link to an update that we made to the article, where we answer many of the users' questions and have a video. Check it out!

 » OT?

Yes, yes it is offtopic. So why is it here?

I don't think people have problems with these articles per-se, but the fact that they thought they were getting a PSP information feed.

That is not what this feed is anymore. If it continues to be inaccurate. If it is not accurate, then it is a waste of my time.

And I think it's fine if people want to take the "Its my site, I'll do what I want" tack, but that sure as heck isn't good journalism and uhm if you have bad journalism at a news site, well then you don't really have much to stand on.

» YOU GUYS HAVE TO READ THE ARTICLE BEFORE FLAMING IT DAMNIT!

"A friend of QJ.NET invited us to help him mount twelve 30-inch Dell flatscreen monitors to his wall, and it was a blast. Above you can see an image of the finished product, and man is it sweet! "

First of all, it wasn't qj.net that bought the monitors. They helped a friend mount them on the wall like he wanted it to. It's their website and they obviously have the right to advertize or reveal other parts of the website (i'm reffering to the Gadgets section) just like any other site. And even if it WAS them who bought the screens and mounted it for themselves, then good for them. You don't know what its for, and even if its for nothing, just shut the f*ck up. It's not affecting you in any way other than having to move your mouse 2 inches. Jeez, I for one am happy this article was posted. Now I will visit the gadgets section periodically too, it seems cool. =)

 » idiots.

I did read this trash, which is why I called it an online diary. It's basically saying:

"A buddy of mine did something cool, and since everyone reads pspupdates, I'll post it here for recognition."

It may be interesting to build a wall of 30" monitors, and hell, it might be interesting to see a wall of apple monitors, but doesn't QJ.net have other pages that are more geared towards this info? Why, yes... yes it does. So why is it in PSP updates?

Because he probably can't post it anywhere else to show off.

It's not a waste of my time, it's just bad quality.

Also, what does a website's opinions on hardware have anything to do with you breaking your psp? Just because we share the opinion that pspupdates is starting to suck, doesn't mean I'm as stupid as you are. You bricked it.

#39: "no one advertises their own website on their own website quite like QJ, that's for sure."

Then you clearly like this site so much that you don't go anywhere else. Ever been to Joystiq? Engadget? Anything similar? This article is a cross-promotional article to promote our new Gadgets blog - guess what, sites just like us do it all the time.

Many of you seem to understand that and appreciate. The rest of you just want something to complain about.

Look at these, they're mounted on a wall, with no desk in front of them, and no viable purpose. I have no idea what this guy does for a living where he _NEEDS_ that many screens. Bill Gates uses 3 19" monitors for his work, he shows better restraint than this

9X Media X-Wall LCD Video wall systems offered as stand alone or Bundled with X-Wall Controllers

The 9X Media line of Slimline LCD has become an industry standard in a number of application where low-depth and very high resolution is required. examples of these application are NOCs (network operation centers), control room display, mission critical system status monitoring where high resolution and high reliability is paramount, utility control rooms, military status monitoring, retail stores, corporate lobbies, board rooms and conference rooms including caterpillar, GE, Boeing.

To help you determine the the screen size you need we have provided you with the chart below that gives you the overall outer dimension of a wall using 17" to 46" LCD screens.

We suggest that you start you wall at a height of at least 36 inches from the ground in most situations and even a little higher is there are multiple rows of viewers so that everyone can see the entire wall.

All Dimensions include the outer bezel so the dimensions you see are the overall height and width of the wall every screen below is less than 5" deep

Please keep in mind that while upon first glance it appears cheaper to use smaller screens. However, video wall servers including our PC, VC, and HD series video wall computer, controllers, and HD servers require 1 output for every screen. So having more of a smallers size screen in the long run ends up costing more for a complete system. The other issue is that is increases the number of mullions or bezels and breaks up the image more than with larger screens.

All height and widths listed are the overall dimensions including bezel

There's a reason I don't goto joystiq or engadget, because of that crap. Next time, maybe you should listen to your loyal readers instead of telling them they whine too much. Or maybe you should read the page title.

Don't get defensive because we're telling you how to do your job, start making a difference by doing your job differently. In the end, the only reason you have a job is because of us anyways -- yet you act like our opinions on the crap you're throwing at us is an inconvinience.

To #7: No, you do not need anything special. Most GFX cards come with 2x DVI ports now which can easily be used to do this. Now, they stated 3 power supplies, so I assume it was 3 computers, meaning each computer used 2 GFX cards, non-SLI. For this type of operation, nVidia graphic cards work wonders. They have vast multi-display options and tools, which is probably why the user picked 7900 GTX. I currently run a triple-screen 17" Dell 1704FPV set and it's incredible. Crazy Jon has definately got some money and time (time to use it, that is). It's something I would do if I had that much money.

first it was ads EVERYWHERE (thank god for adblock), then you sold the PSPU site to QJ or whatever, and now you have an army of idiots posting anything they want, hoping it's somehow related to the PSP. As well as shameless plugs for your affiliates, I'm sure if I paid you enough you'd post anything I wanted. This site was about PSP, and more importantly PSP homebrew. You guys suck now.
   by NeilR - 2006-04-15
 » RE: sold out..

I don't know where the myth started but the site is still owned by the same people. The QJ branding comes from recent growth. This post also is the result of the new Gadgets blog.
