Your iPod, iPod nano, iPod mini or Pod shuffle was working great a
while ago, now it won't. Don't panic! It's not the end of the world
and not ncessarily the end of your player. Macsupport listed a
checklist of things to do that could revive your iPod back into action:1) Make Sure the Battery Isn't Drained Depleted battery could, naturally, prevent you from turning on your iPod, iPod nano, iPod mini, or iPod shuffle. It will also prevent your PC from recognizing the player when even when connected to it. Charge your iPod for at least 30 minutes then try turning it on again. 2) Check the Hold Switch Is your iPod on Â?holdÂ?? Check the Hold switch on your iPod, iPod nano, iPod mini making sure itÂ?s in the off position (no bright orange next to the switch). Try turning the switch on and then off again to see if that helps. On iPod shuffle, look at the front status light when you try to turn on the player. If it glows orange, your iPod is on hold. Press the Play/Pause button for 3 seconds to turn off Hold (the front status light will quickly blink green three times when Hold is disengaged). 3) Reset Your iPod If your iPod wonÂ?t turn on, start up fully or respond - reset it. While resetting will not affect any of your music or files on your iPod, you may need to reconfigure some customized settings. 4) Drain the Battery If your iPod wonÂ?t turn on after you reset it, you may need to fully drain the battery. Disconnect player from your computer or power supply for about 24 hours. Reconnect your iPod to your computer or power adapter and reset your iPod. 5) Check Your Connections If after charging an iPod for at least half an hour didn't work, make sure the cable connections are secure if it looks like your iPod isnÂ?t charging. Completely disconnect your cable from your iPod and computer, plug it back in again on both ends, and then wait a few minutes for the charging indicator to display. 6) Try a Different Cable or Power Adapter Still no luck after checking the cables? Switch to a cable you know works. If the replacement cable solves the problem replace the original. If youÂ?re using a power adapter to charge your iPod, connect your iPod to a high-power port on your computer instead. 7) Use A Different USB or FireWire Port If your iPod still wonÂ?t turn on and experiencing charging problems, connect your player to a different USB/FireWire port located directly on your computer. 8) Update Your iPod Software 9) Restore Factory Setting on Your iPod If none of the nine steps above worked, it still doesn't mean your Apple player is a lost cause. Although a little panicking at this point would be understandable. Ask an iPod savy friend for help, or contact an Apple Genius in an Apple retail store in your area or your local Apple certified dealer. |

updating software and restoring factory settings could also be a bit difficult if the iPod wont turn on. well ask apple about that. :)
