Word has it that Apple's recent software update has just axed iPod functionality with Microsoft's Xbox 360, and iPod Nano owners claim that they cannot use their Apple gadget with Microsoft's next-gen console. However, iPod Touch owners claimed that such functionality never existed.Whatever the true issue is, the few complainants have found that iPod playback on the Xbox 360 was removed after updating to the latest update of Apple's software. What was verified is that certain iPods do get detected by Xbox 360s, though the game console identifies them as "books." Official word on the matter hasn't popped up from either Redmond or Cupertino, though news that even Apple's own support was surprised at the issue. They claimed to have never heard of it, and the complaint was the first. However, solutions have already been suggested, including reverting the iPod firmware to factory software to get the gadget to work. |

I find these things funny. Like how Zune supports AAC but iPod doesn't support WMA. I think Apple could convert more users with honey rather than vinegar. These kinds of tactics are the main reason I no longer use Apple products.

» wait..
Seems kind of foolish, Its not like Apple has a competing console on the market. Why should they care if 360 owners hook up their iPod?.

That's kind of funny cuz I just saw Apple commercial that was making fun of Windows Vista and how people had to downgrade back to XP. Obviously this isn't as big a issue, but I got some humor out of it :)

» Yeah right,
I got my 60 gig ipod video but never hook it up to my 360?
I use connect 360 to stream music or video from my mac.
Also I got so many bloody usb sticks laying around as they tend to accumulate over time. I still got 256mb sticks which I rarely use for computer data but I can get 4 hours of quality music on them. Todays 512mb is less than a Blank cassette cost 20 years ago.
As a point of interest any memory card reader can also be used as a writer, so all them upgrades for those cameras or mp3 players the old memory chips are fine for music and video.
In defense of Apple they make the ipod and it was such a success many others try to cash in on its users. Most hi fi these days will add an ipod port? Why? cause they love Apple? no way they just see the ipod selling well and want a slice of its fame and use the ipod connectivity to promote their own brand.
Onkyo, Denon Sony Yamaha and the xbox.
