NerveGas and Jordan continue to release updates for NES.app, the homebrew Nintendo Entertainments System emulator for the Apple iPhone. The latest binary release for this app is version 1.8.0. Since our last NES.app post was about version 1.6.2, here is the changelog for this release as well as those for versions 1.7.0 and 1.7.1:

NES.app - Image 11.7.0

  • [nervegas] Code and leak cleanup
  • [nervegas] Fixed many writes to invalid memory addresses
  • [nervegas] Corrected APU IRQs
  • [nervegas] Raised volume of white noise channel
  • [nervegas] Built for Toolchain 0.30 - much faster
  • [nervegas] Added true wait periods per frame to prevent running fast
  • [nervegas] Rewrote auto-frameskip code, much smoother

1.7.1

  • [jordan] CPU clocking tweaks
  • [nervegas] All games appear to work well with clock 339 now, new default
  • [nervegas] Removed palette B (vivid), all shift left

1.8.0

  • [nervegas] Fixed white noise channel frequencies
  • [nervegas] Fixed PCM DMA
  • [jordan] Added PAL support, use filename (E) unless marked in header (Many are not marked in the header)
